The whole mainstream went tech is bs though. Tech and Strange have changed their style in more than a few ways to get noticed by the "mainstream crowd".

How? I don't hear Tech and Strange rappin' about same bullsh!t and in same style as Future, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Travis Scott and other so called mainstream "stars". And one more thing.Tech and Strange still ain't recognized by mainstream crowd. They got a bit more fans than before, but not so many as mainstream "artists" that I mentioned above.

Even if Strange would go mainstream... What's wrong with being even more successful and being more recognizable?

    But still... 0:23

If we're being honest, mainstream went strange or whatever is beyond stupid logic.

Strange music in general has in fact changed, but it's been for the better. The horror core focus is kinda not great, so the funky (krizz, mayday, rittz and half of techs latest album) is way better

The sorta do lol. Both rap about being rich, about women and doing drugs etc. But they also both do serious topics

If you're talking about the autotune stuff then you're right for the most part, but rittz occasionally does use autotune in a similar way, such as his guest verse on Jarren Benton - Billion Bucks and the song REAL from the life and times of Jonny valiant. He does also acknowledge the overuse of it, however.

Those artists arnt the defining style of mainstream music, and strange does in fact rap about the same bs and put out the same bs similar to those artists videos. Besides the whole mainstream vs underground s--- is stupid, if he wants to appeal to a larger crowd then go for it. But don't claim mainstream went Tech, when strange is utilizing business practices that Tech and Strange used to disrespect not long ago.

Tech went mainstream. Mainstream didn't go tech. They just say that bs.

In a different note. Not really feeling rittz' new album. Everyone song almost sounds the same to me lol. Bland production.

I really like top of the line but I really like the style of production so your main gripe doesn't apply to me

I see how "mainstream went Tech". For last few years so many mainstream artists claiming that they are no longer fond of major labels and doing or want to do their own independent thing. Isn't it what Tech and Travis been doing for last 10 years? How about that?

Everything changes. Rittz and Mayday are gems on Strange Music. And label is way better than it was when it had such boring artists like Skatterman and Snug Brim.

Yeah, Strange Music very often got a few party and turn up songs on their releases, but it's not their main topic at all. They got more diverse topics on their songs than "mainstream" artists. You can actually relate to Strange Music artists songs more cause you have ups and downs in your life. Talking about mainstream it looks like they don't have real problems at all. Judging by their songs their everyday life consists only of party, money, cars, women and drugs. Sorry, but I can't relate to that bs. And even when Strange artists makes party songs they actually makes me turn up cause they can rap. When I hear mainstream artists it makes me wanna sleep.

Talking about autotune. T-Pain > Future, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan etc. The guy can actually sing and rap. But so many people hated him when came up. Now we have people that can't sing and can't rap, who use autotune to cover their flaws. And people actually like it. Something's not right with people taste of music nowadays.

A mainstream artist wanting to be independent doesn't have anything to do with mainstream going Tech. There have been independant rap labels before Strange was even started. Tech and Strange have undoubtedly changed in an effort to fit in with the mainstream crowd. They are literally begging for attention at this point abandoning any originality they once had. Just look at some of his recent music videos, full of half naked b------s rapping about bs, Strangulation 2 was also full of it. Strange has recently admitted that they are going for that radio friendly sound, even though Strange and Tech have stated that they would never go that route in the past. I get the whole idea of trying to appeal to a larger crowd, but don't base your whole career on being anti mainstream and then change your style to fit in.

There's plenty of mainstream artists with substance, some people just believe that anything mainstream is s---. Which isn't the case.

Disclaimer: Not a huge fan of Kendrick's music.

I think Kendrick's music is far from mainstream. He seems to be doing more of what Kanye was doing and reinventing rap rather than following the formula that had naturally developed.

I also think it's fair to say that mainstream went Tech to an extent. He's popularized a certain business model, and has set a new bar of other people. He's gotten popular artists he's wanted to work with for a long time on his albums. He got Eminem on a song. Main stream went Tech because they are finally giving him a chance and respecting him.

However, Tech did change his style of music, that much is true. His delivery and flow have remained the same, but his subject matter and beats definitely had a mainstream appeal some several of his newer albums. That doesn't make them bad, just means he is shifting around. He can't depend on underground fans forever. He needs to branch out and get commercial appeal.
