Aug 24, 2015 The weeknds is saying he doesn't need to change his style (wear all black at all times), he doesn't need ovo (drake), he's the next MJ (any MJ) with this album. It's Too Easy!
Aug 24, 2015 Re-post from Reddit: With each of the three videos released for Beauty Behind the Madness: "The Hills," "Can't Feel My Face," and "Tell Your Friends / Real Life" being inexplicably linked to make up an overarching storyline, let's use this thread to post theories and discussion of what the true meaning may be behind them. Abel has always used his videos to portray a message and also as a way of communicating to his fans, which is exactly what he appears to be doing with these three videos. I've seen some theories floating around which characterize the Bruce Jenner Lady as the devil who represents the commercialized music industry, whom Abel sells his soul to for the fame he has recently garnered. This idea seems to hold at least some sort of ground, and here are my thoughts/questions, based on opinions I've read and what I've come up with myself: In "Hills," Abel's car crashes and blows up as two girls pester/yell at him as he walks away. Does the car represent his underground career finally ending, while the girls represent his original fans trying to keep him from selling out? Once he enters the house and finds the devil, is this the moment he "sells his soul" for pop, money and fame? In "Can't Feel My Face," Abel struggles to gain the attention of the fans until the devil lights him on fire, a clear metaphor of blowing up into the mainstream. Abel runs out of the club on fire, is there any meeting to this? Is there anything else noteworthy about this video? In "Tell Your Friends," Abel buries himself. As he finishes, Satan Jenner approaches him (looking rather miffed), and Abel shoots him. He then drives away into the night with Real Life playing. Several questions are posed here: Was the Weeknd burying his old self or his new self? Was the pop devil trying to stop him from burying his newly commercialized self? Has Abel decided to k--- off the pop music as depicted by murdering the devil? Or, is Abel telling us he's never going back to his old music by burying his old self? Why did he choose Real Life, of all songs, to play as the story ends? Was this the last part of the story, or was it a prequel to The Hills? We know Abel will never explain it and we'll never truly know the meaning, but it'll be fun to groupthink everyone's thoughts here to see if we can get a consensus. Post your thoughts!
Aug 25, 2015 I reckon Tell Your Friends is a prequel to The Hills. And although he thought he cheated the devil, the car crashing meant that he can't and he realised that when he walked into the room at the end of Hills. I'm not sure how Cant Feel My Face plays apart of the this though.
Aug 25, 2015 Cant Feel My Face is probably in between TYF and Hills and is where he picked up those girls. Girls being the mainstream fans, who turn out not to be real fans at all. idk probably more pieces to come.
Aug 25, 2015 In the original post there's that song I know Your Other Man. That one didn't make the cut, wonder if we'll ever hear it?
Aug 25, 2015 When The Weeknd posts a pic on IG taken in 2011 and everyone freaks out thinking he cut his hair
Aug 25, 2015 This is one of the most complete albums I've heard in a long time. Might be my favorite album of this year.
