Look at the progression of this one character, let alone the rest of them..

Breaking Bad is 10/10. I've only seen the first season of The Wire, but how in the f--- could it touch this?

The Wire is one of the most realistic shows you'll ever watch with its storylines and characters progression

I don't doubt it, I really liked the first season and I can't wait to finish it.

Go back to Season 1 of BB when Walter is talking about "it's the growth, and decay, and then transformation"

As good as The Wire is, I almost guarantee there aren't moments/masterpieces like this

maybe you should finish watching the wire first before making statements like this. There is tons of character development just as good as Walt's transformation.

There are indeed great moments like that in The Wire. Imo, Season 3 & 4 in particular.

It's even better the second time around, I swear. Knowing certain character's motives ahead of time, picking up on little details. as an example I'll point out Avon's respect and sense of uneasiness around Cutty. Cutty really humanizes Avon Barksdale and shows some depth in the few scenes they both had together. For a show as deep and detailed as The Wire you have to watch it again.

Especially considering this is what Omar would do, only a few episodes after he said this lol. he came at Avon and missed.

BB is by far the most rewarding show to rewatch amongst these 3, for real

BB is incredible with multiple viewings, by far my most rewatched show ever. And I usually hate rewatchin anything.

    Hey @Narsh, it's Packman.

Just wanted to let you know, I consider Breaking Bad a Masterpiece, not just because it's one of, if not THE greatest series of all time, but because of the thought that was put into this show, and you know what I mean even better than myself. I saw your posts on SL.

I never said The Wire sucks or can't compare. I said I guarantee The Wire doesn't have the character growth BB has. Maybe I'm wrong (I hope I am).

I think I speak for everyone that has seen the Wire all the way through when I say, you are wrong. The only people that show true character growth in Breaking Bad is Walt, Jesse, & Hank. Literally every character in the Wire shows some element of growth to their character.

You're right to an extent, but just as is with any other poster, I'm gonna tell you it's dumb to make that claim without being well versed on both shows

The wire excels in areas breaking bad doesn't. Singular character arcs in breaking bad may very well be unparalleled (it's definitely #1 in that regard for me)

But The Wire pretty much chronicles the systemic failure of an entire city from multiple POVs over an extended period of time. It's more expansive than BB, thought provoking on a larger scale, has select characters and actors that are every bit as good as Walt or Jesse or Mike or gus, etc.

They're both novels meant to be scrutinized and analyzed and that's what I love about Em. Same applies to sopranos

I'm pretty upset mad men isn't in this convo either

There isn't a fifth tv drama I'd rank as high as these 4
