I was just about to post that it's a shame that every @WPG thread turns into a "Why didn't Eminem make it?" discussion.
Then again, I just contributed to that discussion, though.

I read the list and agreed with almost all of the selections(there were a few albums I'd like to see but what list isn't like that?). And I knew someone would bring up MMLP. @WPG how tired are you talking about this? I still like Eminem a lot but I didn't notice that Eminem was left off until I started reading the comments.Last edited: May 2, 2016Ordinary Joel, DKC and WPG like this.Dec 18, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Isn't Tyler, The Creator an example of Eminem's artistic legacy?
It's fair to distinguish cultural legacy from artistic legacy cause I'm not sure Eminem has influenced as many people artistically as he has culturally (connecting to audiences who traditionally dismissed hip-hop as an art form). Helping people enjoy an art form doesn't mean you shape the next generation of creators. Though, Eminem's legacy certainly goes beyond Frat Boy rap.Enigma, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl and lil uzi vert stan like this. -

And thanks for that, but I'm not putting things on here to be weird or obscure. I think these are the 20 best records.Ordinary Joel, Narsh and Pato v3 like this. -

Yeah bro lol, I went over this before. I joined SL when I was like 13 years old or so for the leaks. I'm pretty sure I was listening to the song Soldier at the time so that's where the name stemmed from. Ended up sticking around on the forums, somehow made it out alive from SL as a young teen lol. I'd change it but I've had the name for almost 6 years now, there's really no point. -

have you even heard an ice cube song??
That album was far from mainstream, didn't even crack the top 50, and were talking about Be which came out in 2005

Not particularly. Both are worthy of note if you're recapping the decade though.
Each is among the best rappers working now. I'm a huge, huge proponent of Herb especially.Lamont, Ordinary Joel and Soldier like this. -

give me a mention when you put the rest up @WPG
Loved seeing My Krazy Life in there. One of my favorite rap albums of the past few years. Glad to see Purple Haze getting recognition as well. Cam seems to be underrated and forgotten a lot.boyz n the suburbs, Ordinary Joel and WPG like this. -

Without Eminem I think it's safe to say Asher Roth, Mack Miller, Macklemore etc never would have found much mainstream success. Em pretty much opened the floodgates to white rappers in the mainstream (although there were a few before him). And to say he existed parallel to the rest of hip-hop seems inaccurate since him, dre, 50, and D12 were one of the focal points and driving forces of the industry for a few years. -

I love when people try saying prime Eminem sucks just to try to be edgy and different. PLEASE.
His career as a whole is a different story but prime Eminem (2000-02) is The G.O.A.T. no doubt.lil uzi vert stan, Guma and YiT like this. -

well i'm not going to address those other albums, because i never mentioned those. all i said was that MMLP is better than The Fix and I stand by that. the reason i feel that way is because eminem's lyrics put him head and shoulders above most rappers in the early 2000s. i mean the s--- was effortless for him and not many rappers (if any) sounded better than him on the MIC during that time period
the thing about eminem is, his subject matter is much different from most rappers. i can understand if people don't like the content, but its going to be pretty hard to dispute how talented he was during his early days
the album ages just fine. dude, when an album is really good, you can go back to it and it still sounds just as it good when it first came out.lil uzi vert stan, Guma and Mike02 like this. -
