Yeah bro lol, I went over this before. I joined SL when I was like 13 years old or so for the leaks. I'm pretty sure I was listening to the song Soldier at the time so that's where the name stemmed from. Ended up sticking around on the forums, somehow made it out alive from SL as a young teen lol. I'd change it but I've had the name for almost 6 years now, there's really no point.

It's crazy how you can compile an impressive looking list of projects that could have made it. Very solid choices overall nonetheless.

Looking forward to check out Boosie & Webbie and Blu's catalog for sure.

and for a long time you've denied taking rap too seriously, but when i said biggie wasn't in your top 10, you responded by saying that "i'm afraid of women" lololol. so not only did you get trolled, but you also proved what i've been saying alllll along about taking it too seriously.

its not hard to tell how serious you take it. you've admitted to listening to a RAP album 20 times before writing a review. now that would be necessary for doing surgery on someone's brain, but not a rap album. how many other ppl do you think feel its necessary to listen to a rap album 20 times in order to evaluate it? you listen to the albums like that because its your passion, not because it requires "careful thought"

plus you know the ages of rappers and those fine little details-- so it ain't like it's hard to tell how serious it is to you. So it makes it pretty easy to troll you about it---which is the only thing I was doing every time I'd tease you about biggie

Well in my defense, you actually are terrified of women.

I've listened to some albums 12+ times before reviewing them, because I'm good at my job.

you're great at your job--and i think its really cool you're able to make money from something that you love (hip hop)

it kinda goes without being said that ppl wanna get paid well. but many ppl make good money, but don't like/dread/hate their job. i think its important for ppl to enjoy their job, or at the very least, not dislike it.

i can't speak for you, but i'd be willing to bet that you really love your job and it probably doesn't even feel like work--plus it obviously pays well because those are major publications- so that's the best of both worlds!

@WPG i think the frat rap argument is fairly disingenuous -- particularly early on, that was very clearly eminem's space. undoubtedly you remember his collaborations/alliance with marilyn manson, limp bizkit.

but beyond that, he played warped tour, hfs, a bunch of shows when he was first acclimating to the national spotlight which positioned him as 'the' rapper for largely rock-focused (white) audiences. 100% a college scene and along with a handful of other rappers who "Crossed over" then (thinking ice cube), rly demonstrated there was a niche for rappers connecting with ~bro~ types.

(ofc, granted eminem quickly pivoted from that - and the rappers being mentioned here are more explicitly/cartoonishly frat boy personas - but i think it's worth underscoring again that yes... eminem has a legacy, he existed, he contributed to broader musical trends lol. you can dislike him, downplay him, but i think "whitewashing" his impact is just a bridge too far.) good list tho -- and i hate to relive old discussions. but my heart sinks (and tears well up) when i see ur eminem disdain manifest into a critical blind spot
