Jul 3, 2016 You mean the guy who tied the loose ends of twenty years of LA rap music together on an album about an assassination attempt? Cool.
Jul 3, 2016 @WPG tag me in these things from now on. I always end up following a couple of artists that you end up recommending.
Jul 3, 2016 only one album on the entire list i've either heard or liked or would like to hear and it's #1
Jul 3, 2016 Haven't heard the Yo Gotti, Dej Loaf, FAB, J-Zone, Payroll Giovonni, or Elucid tapes, will definitely check those out. Stoked to see Wave Gods so high. You really are don't like Chance 3 at all? I knew you weren't as big on it but I figured it might be on the lower end of the top 20.
Jul 3, 2016 Pablo seems to have grown on you since its release, no? I've got some catching up to do on the back half of this list. Also, would Vince's project be on this list if it was already released? And have you heard much about Danny Brown's album?
Jul 3, 2016 Please explain to me why Still Brazy doesn't belong here. I wrote about Coloring Book: http://www.passionweiss.com/2016/05/17/ultra-light-bland-chance-the-rappers-coloring-book/ I haven't heard anything from Danny Brown's album except the single that's out--which is amazing. I've been told it's great but no one's going to email you about something being okay. I expect it to be good. Vince would be top ten. I tend to think of that as something outside of rap.
Jul 3, 2016 I've listened to more than half albums off this list but still there is so much music to catch up. How do you find those albums? lol My biggest surprise is Collegroove tho. I didn't think it was good enough to even consider it as one of the best albums of 2016. I think i'm gonna have to give this one a few more listens.
Jul 3, 2016 I mean it's my job, so it doesn't require any superhuman amount of effort. I'm listening to music 6-8 hours on most days so what might look like impressive digging is really just a moderate amount of work.
