In your passionweiss ultra light bland review, you quote chances lyrics as

Suffocated my name, started missing my chance

    It's actually

Started forgetting my name, started missing my chance

I've seen you do this before in your reviews. I know it seems insignificant, but I think you focus on funny one liners/ bylines (Paul is at the doctor, you can write max b at..) instead of really paying attention to some of the lyrics and music, especially what you consider bad or bland.

Why are people complaining that his list is subjective?

I put the album I think is best at #1. Then I put the album I think is second best at #2. It kinda goes on in that fashion until I hit 20.

I mean, does this really bother you? lol, I dunno man, the way people release music these days is way different than it was in 96. No one really bats an eye at pooling Future's 2015 projects together, you know?
Look, I immersed myself in that record for days on end and wrote thousands upon thousands of words about it. It sucks that you think I got those lyrics wrong, but listening to that line now, it really could go either way, "start forgetting" (not enough spaced for the second syllable in "started") or "suffocated." I hear both, just as I did when the record came out.

I give most peoples' work tremendous amounts of attention, because I think I owe that to them. So while I understand you being a fan of the dude and thinking I got that line wrong, A. I don't believe I did, or at the very least I believe it's 50/50, and B. In this case, that does exactly zero to change the net effect of the line? Like, in context of talking about the xanax addiction, those two lines convey the exact same thing. I didn't butcher the transcription or make something more/less elegant or swap out ideas or miss the syntax or something. I made a judgment call on an either-or thing with, basically, a synonym.

I guess I get you want to nitpick something like that if you're mad I don't like the album as much as you do, and fine, argue with me about that. But I resent the implication that it's because I "wasn't paying attention" to the record and I think that's a pretty wild thing to throw around. I know have a different take on Coloring Book but there has not been a single person besides you who read that review and said "sounds like he wasn't paying attention," and I'm including massive Chance stans who proceeded to insult me. So chill on that.

Furthermore: writers don't do their own bylines, but I think it's very weird and suspect you think "Paul is at the doctor" or "You can write to Max at..." are supposed to be funny. Makes me feel kinda gross to be honest.

I also never said Coloring Book is "horrible" or bad in any way. It's fine. All things considered, it's an above-average record from a wildly talented artist.

@WPG whats suspect about thinking that the "write Max B at.." is a creative, possibly unique (I guess not funny) way to end a review?? Why would that make you feel gross?

I'm not a chance Stan. I like a few albums on your list more than I like that album for sure. I'm not upset that it's not on your top 20 (or 26) albums list. The 50/50 lyric is probably accurate (although I think it's started forgetting my name) but you're right, doesn't change the end result of that line.

you've said there are only a handful of worthwhile hip hop critics. Do they all do top 20 lists with 25 or 26 albums?
