Jun 29, 2015 Not revisited it much tbh 7 or 8. For me S80 and GKMC are more memorable. But then I have been listening to them for longer. So this can change. So far been the biggest release of the year, haven't really looked at much material so can't say. 3 tracks I like: Hood Politics, You ain't gotta Lie, u. I really liked the album when it first came out and still do. However right now S80 and GKMC are still what I go to first when I want to put on some Kendrick. It's still got time to grow on me in that regard though.
Jun 29, 2015 I think you're praising the album more for what it attempted to do rather than what it succeeded at. It succeeded in a lot of ways, but it is in no way flawless enough to justify a "9.7" rating, or be considered one of the best albums in recent times, let alone the best album ever on this topic. kendrick releasing this as his sophomore effort, and in this current climate, is definitely a positive -- but that shouldn't extend into judging the actual music. The writing is often times heavy handed, outside of a few moments this is the most soulless Kendrick's ever sounded on an album, its bloated, and is a lot more jumbled than it needs to me (i used to think it was purposefully, but the more I listen to the record the more it just seems a bit sloppy). all things considered, i still think its a great project, definitely better than ep/od, and one of my favorites of the year.

Jun 29, 2015 I think he succeeded at displaying the album's themes And I can see why someone would think the album is bloated and heavy-handed, but I think the length is justified and heavy-handedness isn't as bad as you make it out to be.
Jun 29, 2015 come on man HMADC is the most heavy handed bs thats come out ALL year but it gets excused because of the great aesthetic the production creates, and kendrick being technically sound this example can be extended for many moments on the album that dont get the critical reading an artist of kendrick caliber deserves. the fact that so many people have decided to just keel over and s--- him off for this record is going to be extremely detrimental to his future projects, i can already tell tbh (side note: i am and always have been a huge kendrick fan. he was my favorite rapper alive in 2012, and for the millionth time i still think TPAB is great. just no where near "flawless." its in my top 10 for the year tho).
