And Tetsuo and Youth was a little more complex so im not saying this album is the most complex thing ever created either. But trying to pick apart an album with no glaring flaws just to find a reason to dislike it and go against the metacritic hype is hipster s---.
Jun 30, 2015 i hate the f---ing internet so much. i got offered plenty of money to review Butterfly, posts like this are why i turned it all down: i debated not even replying because this is so fundamentally wrong. you're either full of s--- and have never listened to quik, or have some of the worst taste i've ever come across. even a couple of LA artists who like the kendrick album have conceded to me that it's a pale imitation of quik at points. again, i can't tell if you're ignorant or stupid. the rich g--- tape is at least the best album since good kid, m.A.A.d. city, maybe since Dark Fantasy. seriously, i can't even have an honest debate with people like you. kendrick's first album is a masterpiece. his work before then is all pretty compelling. calling me a "hater" is nonsensical. 10. Jun 30, 2015 still a 9/10 album to me. this feels like kendrick's "her favorite colo(u)r" and that's one of my favorite albums of all-time so I probably enjoy this album more than most (or at least for different reasons). also I don't really understand the complaint that kendrick was too self-serious on this album. kendrick has always been this way (he cries on the heart pt. 2 for christ sake) so idk what people were really expected...this is what you're gonna get with a lamar album....
