Mar 23, 2015 It's all opinion. Some people think it's sales, critical acclaim, hip hop community reaction. Etc. it's a lot of things and I don't have a clear answer but critical acclaim alone does not make a classic imo. Exhibit a Yeezus. We have to give this time anyway before we have the Classic talk but TPAB is not the best album of all time because of its metacritic score.

Mar 23, 2015 It's definitely critically acclaimed bruh. Anything above 80 on metacritic is critically acclaimed on Yeezus got an 84. On top of that Yeezus was in the top 5 albums of pretty much every end of the year list for all genres in 2013. Even some of the reviews for TPAB compared it to Yeezus. Definitely critically acclaimed.

Mar 23, 2015 Another reason why critics and reviews aren't a defining point of the quality of an album. There is always some kind of bias. Critic scores definitely do say something tho, but not whether an album is classic or not. Sorry to barge into the convo btw lol
Mar 23, 2015 Kanye wrote 50% of yeezus in 2 hours and got an 84 on metacritic. Critics have an agenda: is it experimental? Is the artist stepping outside of his comfort zone? Cohesive? Critics dont factor in things like impact (which cant really be measured, and is the reason eminem is so succesful - poor critic ratings but huge amounts of impact). TPAB is no doubt a phenomenal album, but its almost kendricks way of saying "I made the perfect album, lets see you give the grammy to macklemore this time." In other words, sort of geared towards critical acclaim.

Mar 23, 2015 GRODT is one of the best albums ever and has a 73 on metacritic. In da club is played at every single party till this day. Critic reviews definitely hold weight but in no way are they the deciding factor
