Aug 13, 2015 I've been on this forum long enough to see that most people here just listen to hip-hop. I was that way too about two years ago.
Aug 13, 2015 I have been saying this the whole time and every time I say something about to TPAB i get hit with the 's--- replay value line'
Aug 13, 2015 Lol. Anyway I admit I listen a lot to individual songs... albums not so much after a few weeks they dropped
Aug 13, 2015 I love Kendrick, but how can an album be considered a classic if it has little replay value. At first, the album just hit me, especially the outro. Then, i found myself not wanting to listen to it anymore. I only sometimes play "How much a dollar cost" and "alright". I don't know why i don't play the full album. I mean, i like the messages, but idk.
Aug 13, 2015 Alright, I'll be the first to tell you I don't listen to this album super often. However, it's my current album of the year, beating the greatest female musician alive right now (Björk) and my favorite band of all time (Death Grips) on my list. There's a lot going on in the album and with it's somewhat long length, there's a lot to take in that you really do need to focus in on. I've seen the little replay value argument be thrown around over the years and I've grown more and more to see it as a pseudo-criticism.
Aug 13, 2015 I'm an album guy who rarely skips tracks too, too but I still never really wanna listen to Momma, How Much A Dollar Cost, and Mortal Man. Though I will say I was prolly a bit too hard on the album recently cuz I listened again for the first time in awhile and it holds up pretty well, ya just gotta be in the right mood for it. Album's pretty perfect up through Alright imo, then gets a bit shakey and bloated...still gr8 though.
Aug 13, 2015 Gotta be honest, I was a little bit insecure whether or not TPAB would be a classic (you can only really say it when the hype dies down) but after re-listening it again a few weeks ago, it's just exactly the album I wanted him to release. Deep, experimental, honest. And yeah, after a dew months it also has a great replay value (especially if you listen to the whole album). What surprised me is that a few tracks really stand our nowadays similar to what m.A.A.d city or Sing About Me was for GKMC. Wesley's Theory, King Kunta, Alright, U, These Walls, man wtf, no matter how you listen to it, it's always magical. Second classic album. Blessed.
Aug 13, 2015 Every time you post in a thread I don't even have to voice my opinion because you've already done it for me. Good job bobby
