Voted for gkmc, much 'easier' to listen to. Not that TPAB isn't listenable, but because TPAB requires a lot more focus to appreciate the songs to the fullest. With gkmc I'm able to just vibe to almost any of the songs off that album. Has a lot of replay value in my eyes.

But it's a close one, wouldn't be surprised if I changed my opinion after an extended period of time. Both are classics no doubt.

Shocked the gap is so high towards gkmc tbh I thought it'd be closer. After giving gkmc another spin I'd say the voters are right though, this album is pretty close to flawless. How he even followed it up is amazing.. Respect to k dot for real he's a genius

I haven't stopped listening to GKMC since it was released. I would have to vote for GKMC. TPAB is an amazing album but that just shows the greatness of GKMC to me.

I know TPAB is an album that 10 years ago I wouldn't have enjoyed. I just re purchased GKMC, but the deluxe version. I just downloaded disc two when it came out. Had to make it right.

TPAB i think is better than GKMC but nothing beats Section 80 so far

just because it isn't as mainstream as the first, doesn't mean it should be held back

just because you have to "pay attention" to the music doesn't mean it should be held back

but if you just prefer the GKMC i understand

Everything about this album is brilliant. The lyrics, production and the songs are catchy. I guess when I listened to Mortal Man more carefully I understood the poem to Pac and the reasoning behind the album name, this is seriously a 10/10 album.

Awesome forum.

I think they're very different albums, I still probably prefer Section 80 to both right now, but I love GKMC and TPAB.
I genuinely think Kendrick is 3/3 and Overly dedicated is amazing too.

Also people should quit it with that "Kendrick has become a socially-conscious over night" cos its simply not true, he's always had those tracks on every record, he's just going in a different direction with it, I think the verses are probably slightly better on GKMC (with exception of TBTB) but the instrumentality is better on TPAB.

Anyway both are better than anyone else is putting out

Imo it's a matter of an album that's consistently 9-9.5 throughout (TPAB} or one that's 10 half the time and like a 7 towards the end (GKMC)

I like listening to GKMC more but I acknowledge that TPAB is the superiorly constructed album

I'm sure now, TPAB is the worst K. Lamar album. The second half of it doesn't work really well. It's still an interesting and strong effort tho.

The problem is... I'm still not able to explain the exact reason. For now, I just can say that sonically it's not as pleasant for my ears as GKMC or S80. And instrumental-wise, the first half of TPAB flows better than the second one, I'm sure.
