the trap mentality started w UGK, the sound started w Miami Bass, and you can trace the 808 use as far back as Planet Rock w afrika bambaata

T.I. was the first to give it a name and the one to pin it in Atlanta

he was the first to coin the phrase trap music

trap as you know it was really kicked off by jeezy, gucci and zay and exploded thanks to lex & waka

its just a general perspective on how the sounds evolved not saying they're the same

but i don't think its too farfetched to think this pattern might repeat itself, when it comes to culture and art everythings been going in cycles since the renaissance

well ya its just a pretty standard evolution of any artistic medium thats why its shallow imo unless im missing something

    >thing starts off at a grass roots, underground level
    >develops gritty, primal style popular in underground community
    >gets popularised
    >develops and becomes more polished & less gritty

nah i was thinking more like how the it was super aggressive music, then it hit a ceiling and the focus shifted to moody atmospheric music

also both black metal and moody trap obsess over depression and self destruction, altho black metal is more like literal self destruction while trap is more obsessed w self destructive habits and drug use

well ya thats what im saying but with different words i guess although i wouldnt say either genre "hit a ceiling" both devlopments are more like offshoots than a lateral movement the whole genre makes uknow
