Lyrical doesn't mean the lyrics have to tell a story or anything remotely close to that. Any song that has wordplay at all could be considered lyrical.

People who are arguing so hard for lyrical are the same people who comment "when does the English version come out" on YouTube smh

This is like asking if you prefer flip flops or a bicycle you can have both and one isn't inherently better than the other

Liking music for the sound of it (aka the actual music part) is just as valid as liking a song for its lyrics

Am I wrong? I would lose aux privileges if I played a quarter of the songs from j cole's discog. Also ain't no body like "ayo, JG2 throw on that Nas that s--- hits so hard!" Doesn't mean it's bad, just saying.

I agree the music part is important, but if you disregard lyrics and just listen for the beat or whatever, what is there to distinguish rap from any other genre? Might as well b--- some pots and pans together and put it on a mixtape

You're wrong imo if you judge everything by whether it "bumps in the whip" or not. If you just do that when you're in the car with friends that's different. "Stan" doesn't bump, that doesn't make it not one of the greatest hip hop songs ever.

If you disregard production and just listen for the wordplay, what is to distinguish rap from any other genre? Might as well read spoken-word poetry and put it on a mixtape.

Agree 100%. Chance the Rapper done turned himself into Chance the Spoken word poet on Surf. People act like the beat, delivery, and flow don't coincide with each other.

Hopsins best song is No Words and ironically he was trying to bash trap music.

It doesn't have a boring a--- boom bap beat with hippity hoppity lyrics wtf. Trap is too experimental and doesn't push boundaries like this 90s lyrical miracle rap.
