    @WPG @El Puto @Sav Stanfield

I appreciate the advice yall, a lot of my friends have been selling me on Mexico City so I might end up spending all my time there and in the surrounding areas. Seeing a bunch of Mayan ruins especially is something I've always wanted to do, it was such a fascinating/advanced culture for its time.

I actually went to Coast Rica on a school trip in high school and it was amazing, I'd definitely go back as an adult. I've also done the resort Mexico thing with my family before so I'll def be staying away from that aspect.

Do you guys have any advice as to where to stay? Did yall bounce around hostels or stay in airbnbs in people's homes or what? I'm definitely trying to stay on the cheaper end but I'm also not above paying a little more to be a bit more comfortable for a few days too.

so i don't say this to dull your enthusiasm to go further south––but you can honestly do a whole month in mexico, split between the sort of isolated areas around tulum and then exploring mexico city, which is massive and full of historical s--- and modern culture and is easily navigable.

but beyond mexico, i've spent some time in central america and honestly cannot recommend costa rica highly enough

unless you're doing some kinda voodoo freelance work where you get paid immediately, don't worry about working

@Big Cuntry so I'm doing two bachelor parties in the next 3 months and both in Mexico. 1st at Cancun which I've been a bunch already and know what to expect there, but my other buddy wants to do Mexico City and rent an airbnb...grew up with some rowdy kids so worried about staying out late drinking too much. Did you have any late nights out there drinking?

Did you drink the water? I know you said you ate the food...get sick at all?

Yeah my last job was basically 90% work from home unless I had to meet with clients. Did it for 4 years. Thought I would love it, but after a while working from home sucks. A lot of people I worked with who did it became social weirdos and never left their places. I got a new job 2 months ago, more money and back in an office. Office sucks also, don't get me wrong, but it's nice to hate your job in person. I do miss rolling out of bed at 845 and wearing sweats instead of sitting in traffic at 630 in the morning dressed like Trent during one of his court appearances though. I basically could have worked from anywhere I wanted as well which sounds cool, but traveling to a cool location when you're still working by yourself isn't as fun as it sounds.

Lol my grandparents are terrified that I’m going to Mexico cuz they watch cnn and msnbc all day and only hear about heads being found in garbage bags and journalists murdered by the cartel.

That being said is that worth watching? I only ever saw season 1 of narcos.

I don’t think it’s typical city crime stuff you’d have to really worry about.

    - I wouldn’t be going to outskirts or more isolated areas and towns. This isn’t The Godfather and you don’t have to be part of the “system” to be targeted. It just takes one chubby little mexican kid talking about the gringo with his fancy laptop he saw at the local cafe for his dumbfuck teenage brother to h--- his cousin about a rich cac in town they can rob only to be overheard by his broke a--- uncle who knows someone who knows someone and by the end of this game of Chinese whispers wannabe Los Zetas grunts think you’re either a narc or a reporter and I’ll be seeing you on bestgore.

    - Avoid the usual flagged states. Just stay in the usual advised white people-friendly places.

    - If you’re getting robbed or mugged do not resist.

    - Don’t drive on highways at night or more isolated highways. If you happen to be driving normally under the limit in a non busy highway and an undercover police car turns on the lights to pull you over, don’t pull over. It’s not the police.

    - As for other Central American countries. Just tick Honduras off your list right now and don’t even think about it.

    - Better yet, don’t even go. There are easier ways to inflict harm on yourself after a breakup.

DO IT! Life is too short to not take risks/seek adventure. I'd reccomend Costa Rica. And if you end up there, go to Playa Dominical. My buddy owns a brewery down there, and has lived there for the last 4 years. He refuses to leave. I'll make sure you're taken care of on the off chance you make it that far.

I've never stayed in a hostel before but I figure it's pretty easy to bounce and move to a new one after a night if it's too s-----y yeah?

When I went on a roadtrip recently I used non-private airbnbs for the first time and it was dope and way cheaper than a private one or a hotel. Never had any bad experiences with the hosts either. Yeah I figured airbnbs would probably be something I'd do in Mexico City proper or other cities if I decided to use 'em.

So far @El Puto's cousin is my top choice though
Thanks man, it's all good though. It's been ups and downs but I think it was the right decision.

I have mild asthma so I'm slightly worried about the pollution but I'm sure it'll be fine. Def checking out Teotihuacan. You got any recs for Jalisco?

Had a great time. Ate a million tacos. Went to the pyramids, didn't buy into their tour s--- though and we did it on our own. Was actually surprised how dangerous those stairs were. One wrong step and you're dead. Then we had a Mezcal tasting where two sisters gave us Artisanal Mezcal and cooked us food. Went to lucha libre wrestling match. Hit up a few clubs and bars which were great for the most part. Only got shaken down by the cops one night when my friend was walking around with an open container. They threatened to detain him for 24 hours unless we paid them $500, talked them down to $100. And I didn't even have to use my AK.
