Marc Mauer of the Sentencing Project reports African Americans are 21% more likely to receive mandatory minimum sentences than white defendants and 20% more like to be sentenced to prison than white drug defendants.

Unless both people killed the same man at the same time in the same place with the same gun in the exact same way it's not "the same crimes".

There's a lot of nuances and most of it is down to individual judges and their judgment.
10% at the end of it is pretty insignificant. What one dude got 10 years and another got 11?

Are black defendants more likely to be repeat offenders by any chance?

Yeah I'm done with you after this post. You really have no understanding of time and the issues that are being discussed. If you did, you would know 8 years is nothing in comparison to how long these issues have been around.

Do you know what an average is?

Not it's not. Because different area's have different standards for prosecuting and those area's have specific demographics that commit certain crimes.

10% is f---ing small, and given the massive variants for things such as sentencing, it means there were some black people who ended up getting less time than their white counterparts. A difference across the line of at best 1-2 years in sentencing is f--- all tbh.

We are discussing america being a racist country and black people being oppressed.
If the problems facing black people are so deep yet so vague in an otherwise completely equal constitution (at face value presumably), that brought forth it's first black president before it's first female president, then i'm inclined to call bs on your claims of institutional racism.

The argument that "some laws target black people". Just implies that black people are significantly more likely to commit that particular crime. Law abiding citizens aren't being oppressed by American law.
