While I've never had a huge post count here or at SL (hence quality over quantity) most probably recognize me from being active and frequent in the tv section especially.

The last month or so there's been a big spike in the amount of "rate/list your favorite" type of threads for shows or movies. This isn't a bad thing by any means as it has been promoting some good discussion in there however, it has also made the section very disorganized. Popular threads become buried and a pain in the a--- to track down when you want to add a post or update because they are all the sudden on page 3 in a matter of hours. Also newly made threads can sometimes get buried quickly which stops them from ever gaining any momentum for replies. Yes, I know we can search for a specific thread about a show but that isn't the quickest thing to do either as you then have the scroll down the search results past every thread that mentions the show or movie your looking for the discussion thread for.

My suggestion to organize it all better is to split the section similar to how Music has
1.Music
--Albums

The TV/movie section as it is would be for X vs. Y and genre comparative type threads I mentioned above.

Then you have the sub-section for all the Official Discussion threads about specific shows and movies.

Just a suggestion to make everything a little more organized and help stop threads about specific shows and movies become buried in a matter of days when there is a surge of new threads.

Sooo I guess nobody else thinks this is a good idea?

Went to post an update to the X-files thread today and per usual it was a pain in the a--- to find.

While I'm not a big fan of subsections because a lot og good threads get lost in subsections, I'd rather suggest a better search machine (that would help the forum in general, the current one isn't too good).

Just add "site:forum.sectioneighty.com" to a Google search.
I use Google over pretty much every native search engine.

Good idea, thanks. It'd be great tho if we could implement sth better so search stuff, sth as reliable as Google.
Until then, I'll go with your way of searching.

What do you think about @Epitome's suggestions btw?
Would you add a subsection into the movies and tv section in order to make it more organised or would you keep everything in one place?

If more people thought it was an issue, I could see it happening. As of now, there doesn't seem to be much outcry. I would have no problem stickying more threads if people would just ask.
