Nov 3, 2015 USA and Turkey can't even work together without friction, especially in regards to the Kurds even though they're the ones actively pushing back ISIS. I think people are starting to realize that USA/NATO are failing in their interventions. Assad has definitely not gotten away with what he's done; since the chemical attacks, the UN has ordered Assad to destroy Syria's chemical weapons, plus the US has several sanctions placed on Syria. In my first post I said USA has been fighting ISIS in the same sentence as Russia accomplishing more in Syria, so I see why you read my post to say Russia has been doing a better job against ISIS than USA, my bad. Like you mentioned, USA and Russia both have different goals in the ME; USA wants both ISIS and Assad out, and have armed the Syrian rebels and the Iraqi army while bombing ISIS, but this has proven to be a failure. Russia on the other hand have given Assad a lifeline by bombing the Syrian rebels threatening him; Russia wants their ally Assad to remain in power, and are doing so with success. That's not to say that Assad is a good man, but we need Assad for the sake of Syria's survival. Like I said before, look at Iraq and Libya now that Saddam Hussein and Colonel Gaddafi are no longer in power.
Nov 3, 2015 It's kinda scary having "rival" countries with lots of firepower in the same area at the same time fighting different people. I know Russia is technically fighting Isis but they are also fighting against rebels that want Assad removed (some of the same rebels the U.S. is helping) Like there is a lot that could go wrong. I just hope nothing escalates and we can work together and bring peace to the Middle East cause that is one f----- up place at the moment.
Nov 3, 2015 From my understanding, Russia has achieved s--- over there, and proved they are more efficient at killing ISIS than america. So Obama sending troops over to me just looks like "oh, nah, we can k--- ISIS like Russia too, i swear! - send in the troops!" But i'm not really a political genius or anything and not exactly well informed.
