Aug 22, 2016 Main Card (FOX)-8 P.M. ET Demian Maia (#3 WW) vs Carlos Condit (#4 WW) Anthony Pettis (#7 LW) vs Charles Oliveira (#6 FW)-FW Bout Paige VanZant (#10 WSW) vs Bec Rawlings Jim Miller vs Joe Lauzon Prelims (FOX)-6 ET Sam Alvey vs Kevin Casey Enrique Barzola vs Kyle Bochniak Shane Campbell vs Felipe Silva Jeremy Kennedy vs Alex Ricci Prelims (Fight Pass)-5 ET Chad Laprise vs Thibault Gouti Garreth McClellan vs Alessio Di Chirico Pretty solid Main Card, despite not loving the Condit/Maia match up, as a Condit fan. Prelims are very weak for a Fox card though.
Aug 22, 2016 Main card likely won't appeal to casuals but it's a solid lineup. Hope Condit doesn't get jiu-jitsu f----- by Maia
Aug 23, 2016 I'd say that's a pretty safe bet. In fact, if this FN does above decent numbers or better it's (99%) due to that.
Aug 23, 2016 Very true, but at the same time (unless I've been missing the advertisements) the UFC hasn't really been promoting this card at all so many may not know she's fighting on Saturday
Aug 23, 2016 He totally is going to. I really like Condit, he's one of my fave WW's but this is going to be tough as s---. He lost to Johny (despite wining stand up) b/c of wrestling. I see Maia walking right up to him to grapple and take him down
Aug 23, 2016 Yea 5 rounds favors Condit more though, just like it would have in the Hendricks fight. I could see Maia taking the first 3 and then Condit taking over and getting a stoppage in the 4th or 5th. As a big Condit fan i'm happy they moved this from 202, to a M.E. 5 round fight.
Aug 23, 2016 A flying knee to counter a take down would be epic haha. But that's one of the dumbest strategies against grapplers so...no go
Aug 25, 2016 Carlos Condit (-130) vs Demian Maia (+110) More then likely a #1 Contender fight, unless GSP comes back. Pretty straight forward fight where Demian has to get the fight to the ground and Condit needs to keep the fight standing. Condit's TDD is suspect as f---, but his cardio is one of his best assets. I think Maia control's him early but think Condit will take over late in the fight and stop Maia. Honestly don't think Condit needs to keep the fight standing all that long to catch Maia, so it could happen early, but im leaning towards a later TKO. Condit's infamous KO of Dan Hardy at UFC 120 Condit's Flying Knee against Dong Hyun Kim Dropping GSP with a head kick Maia tosses Chael Sonnen and triangles him at UFC 95 Maia's neck crank against Rick Story (not the blood shooting out of Story's nose) Anthony Pettis (-200) vs Charles Oliveira (+170) Huge Pettis guy since the early WEC days, but he has looked like s--- lately. 145 is where i always thought he should be, so im glad to see him make the cut. Oliveira is a wizard on the ground with some solid striking as well. We've seen Do Bronx wilt from body shots before and Pettis has brutal kicks to the body, i think he stops him in the 1st with a body kick and GNP finish. Pettis' infamous "Showtime Kick" at WEC 53, the last WEC event before the organization folded into the UFC vs Joe Lauzon Stopping Cerrone with a body kick Pettis vs Danny Castillo in the WEC Oliveira calf slicer over Eric Wisely choking out Hatsu Hioki Paige VanZant (-225) vs Bec Rawlings (+185) I expect Paige to out-cardio Bec, get the clinch and take her down at will. Bec has decent stand up and could catch PVZ but I don't think she'll be able to keep the fight standing. We'll see what type of shape Bec comes in though i guess. Pick = PVZ GNP TKO in the 3rd PVZ stopping Kailin Curran in her UFC debut Armbar over Alex Chambers Bec vs Lisa Ellis highlights Joe Lauzon (-155) vs Jim Miller (+135) Big fan of both guys and their first fight was great, despite it being fairly one sided for Miller. I can't look past Miller's recent loss to Diego, despite his lyme disease excuse. Especially after Lauzon was just the first guy to stop Diego with strikes. Despite never going to decision, i expect Joe to win this one on the scorecards. Lauzon choking out Melvin Guillard 47 seconds into the 1st round after dropping him Lauzon stopping Diego Sanchez at UFC 200 Miller chokes out Yancy Medeiros at UFC 172 Miller's kneebar over Charles Oliveira Sam Alvey (-225) vs Kevin Casey (+185) Kevin Casey is more known for being associated with Muhammad Ali (married to his daughter Hana) then his MMA career. Hes slick on the ground, but doesnt offer much on the feet and has no gas tank. Alvey is a head hunter that doesn't throw a lot of punches, but hes found the chin on better opponents then Casey. I got Sam by 1st round KO Alvey vs Ferreira vs Dan Kelly Casey pumped full of roids elbowing Bubba Bush into oblivion http://offsided.com/r/mma/kR9ugS3/ Kyle Bochniak (-200) vs Enrique Barzola (+170) Barzola is a TUF: Latin America 2 winner from Peru, was not super impressive mostly grinding out his opponents. Bochniak took a short notice fight with Charles Rosa and lost pretty decisively. Would say he has the better standup but think Barzola can get the fight to the ground and blanket Bochniak to a UD win. Alessio Di Chirico (-255) vs Garreth McLellan (+215) Di Chirico is an Italian who lost his debut to Bojan Velickovic, McLellan is a South African fighter who has fought mostly wrestlers in his UFC run and lost. Picking Di Chirico by 2nd round TKO Shane Campbell (-135) vs Felipe Silva (+115) Campbell is 1-3 in the UFC. Hes has 70+ kickboxing fights and tends to have trouble with grapplers. Silva is making his debut and the majority of his wins have come by KO. I think Campbell will probably be the more technical striker and i think he picks Silva apart and wins a decision. Campbell's infamous Hadouken in WSOF Chad Laprise (-310) vs Thibault Gouti (+255) Laprise is the TUF: Nations WW winner. Hes lost his last 2 to Francisco Trinaldo and Ross Pearson, but arguably could have gotten the decision against Ross. Gouti has lost both of his fights in the UFC by submission and is basically being fed to Laprise in Canada here. Pick=Laprise by dominant decision. Laprise breaks Kajan Johnson's jaw on TUF (time stamped) to advance to the Live Finale Adam Hunter (-160) vs Ryan Janes (+140) A late addition between 2 debuting Canadian MW's. Most of Hunter's wins have come by KO and most of Janes' have come by submission. I'll go with Hunter because he seems to have beaten the better competition. Jeremey Kennedy (-155) vs Alex Ricci (+135) Alex Ricci is UFC vet Mike Ricci's older brother, thats about as much as i know about him. Jeremey Kennedy is 23 years old and one of the more hyped Canadian prospects. Havent seen him fight, but know hes well rounded. Think he wins by decision.

Aug 27, 2016 Condit: Maia is only good for 2 rounds before he gasses. If Condit can survive, cardio will win him the fight if nothing else does. That said, of course Maia could backpack him and submit him early. I just don't think that's the more likely scenario here. Oliveira: Similar dynamic to Condit-Maia in that we've got a pure grappler versus a pure striker. Pettis has been on the down slide. Dropping a weight class is a sign of desperation that rarely ever ends well. Oliveira isn't unbeatable, but he's deadly on the ground. Anybody should be able to gameplan for Pettis at this point. VanZant: She's been away from the sport for a bit and looks to be interested in leaving it, but Bec would be midtier in Invicta and doesn't have the type of resources (Team Alpha Male) or athleticisim that Paige does. This is a fight she should win, and if she doesn't, she should switch careers. Lauzon: Lauzon could decline at any time and looked like poo against Dunham, but Miller already began his descent years ago. Hopefully it's not as brutal as the Diego finish was. That was just kind of sad.
