    Sometimes I wonder if music 'critics' can enjoy music that isn't complicated or if they only listen to the stuff they think is good objectively

    i feel like critics should just be people who enjoy music generally and not try to go so hard into detail in every song, once u get to that people are u really enjoying? maybe once in a blue moon i guess

    I think it's fine to go in detail if that's what you do (like wpg does with his reviews). But sometimes I feel like some think everyone needs to hold that standard to music. I mean I get that Drake's music isn't that complicated but if it sounds good to me I like it (to an extent)

    I just wonder if they like music they think is bad

    Good critics should know that liking something isn't always equal to something being good. They are able to differentiate those two things, so I think it's obvious that they occasionally listen to music which is bad in their opinion. I mean, let's look at hotline bling. I'm sure that people who bashed this song at first were humming the melody sooner or later. The song is too catchy to get it out of your head.
