Oct 10, 2015 There was a couple of solid tracks (Diamonds Dancing, 30 for 30, Jumpman) but as a whole, this was pretty underwhelming
Oct 10, 2015 You know what f--- it @Tadpole I don't care, this is the worst out of 4 projects Future has dropped in the past year and it is still at least a 6/10 mixtape. YOUNG METRO YOUNG METRO YOUNG METRO out
Oct 10, 2015 The tape has actually grown on me a lot, particularly Scholarships and Jumpman. Keeping it short was a good move.
Oct 10, 2015 Scholarships and Plastic Bag have grown on me a lot. Not sure how Jumpman wasn't a hit for you from the start though. Magic city on a monday, Esco treat that s--- like church on Sunday
Oct 10, 2015 Yeah Jumpman was always a b-----r tbf. Jumpman jumpman I don't need no introduction, Jumpman jumpman Metro Boomin on production (wow)
Oct 10, 2015 This mixtape might actually be my favorite Hip-Hop project that has come out all year. Future is phenomenal on tracks like Digital Dash, Live From the Gutter, Scholarships etc. Drake while he clearly isn't in his typical setting, hardly sounds out of place on this project either. His verse/flow on Scholarships is fantastic & 30 For 30 is one of the best solo Drake tracks to come out this year.
Oct 10, 2015 I never thought I was going to say this, but I miss 2 Chainz. Yes, 2 Chainz rhymes were ignorant. But at least his songs were catchy. At least his rhymes were funny (cuz he knew it was all a self-parody anyway). And at least ti--y Two Necklace didn't drench himself in auto-tune on all of his songs.
Oct 10, 2015 drake sounds vry out of place a lot of the times. and he's okay sometimes. he's never close to the highs future reaches on this tape. imo.
Oct 10, 2015 There's not one track where I think Drake sounds lost. He's clearly in Future's element on this project so it's expected of Future to outperform him. With that being said though, this idea that Drake's presence on this project is forgettable? I'm not buying it. Big Rings is not nearly as hard-hitting, hypnotic or catchy without Drake's chorus. Diamonds Dancing isn't as powerful without Drake's vocals & his dark/Weeknd influenced outro. Scholarships isn't as smooth without Drake's effortless/soothing verse. Future clearly is the star performer throughout this mixtape but Drake also has some very solid contributions throughout.
Oct 10, 2015 future's verse is the best on big rings ("u just a battle rapper/im an official trapper/gibber jabber/etc," "im talking bout kidnappers, im talkin about murderin' n----s," etc). drake is rapping about chris brown on a song called "live from the gutter." drake suddenly cosigns robitussin for absolutely no reason. diamonds wouldn't be what it is w/o future's backbone. drake is inconsequential to this tape. he's good at times. he's mostly just average though.
Oct 10, 2015 I would agree with the fact that it sounds more like a Future project than a Drake project. That might be why I don't like it, but Drake wasn't really on his A-game either on this.
Oct 10, 2015 I don't disagree but Drake's chorus on Big Rings is great as well & is essential to the track imo. Drake had one line that kind of took a shot at Chris Brown, a majority of his verse is about a chick. Future mentions Ciara in his verse ("I know them tears still falling down on my last b----," "I watched my broad give up on me like i'm average, I went back inside the attic count it up and started laughing"). I really don't see the issue.
Oct 10, 2015 dude if you don't see the issue with drake rapping about *insert random chick he's telling to shut up and take it here* and chris brown disses on a track where future borderline cries about his actual origins in the gutter, i really dont know what to tell you you guys make way too many excuses for drake.
Oct 10, 2015 What exactly was Drake supposed to rap about? His "origins in the gutter" too? lol. Even Future went off base & talked about his experiences with women. I just don't see the issue with either of their subject matter on this track. The song was executed well & that's all that really matter to me. I'm not trying to claim Drake had the better verse or outshined Future on this track so calm down.
Oct 10, 2015 uh no? but something like started from the bottom? you know? something that actually makes sense and isnt tone deaf? future didnt go "off base" btw, him breaking up with the mother of his child is probably equivalent to being @ rock bottom. thats why he brought it up, imo. like i said, drake's entire verse is inconsequential (not to mention he clearly heard thug's old version first and bit his "yeah yeah" s--- and made it so dull lol. but that's besides the point). im perfectly calm btw. all i said was that you guys make too many excuses for drake. which hasn't really been disproven..
