about to watch soon. Anyone seen this though? Westworld (1973)

came across it by accident.

From what I read about the movie, 'westworld is a theme park rich people go to to live out a wild west fantasy in parks filled with robots. one robot malfunctions and goes around killing everything.'

guessing they're based on the same thing? or is the new westworld a kind-of reboot?

That's the original movie this show was inspired by... It's a bit different in that it's a sort of humans vs. robot thing but it's worth it.

ok some things i noticed that i think might be huge + my theory/thought so far. spoilering just incase

Spoiler: theory

MiB is shown 'the maze' or he says it was revealed to him after killing maeve and her daughter. At first i thought nothing of it, but then i started thinking about when she was in the bar altering those 2 hosts to her will and making them do things. I feel maeve could be a BIG plot device within westworld

Spoiler: small things i noticed - relates to big theory below

-When Will and Delores find that wounded soldier, Will seems to lack empathy, almost as if he's becoming more desensitized to violence against robots. He's even hesitant to pass the water to Delores when she is like "QUICK!" (I don't remember too well, but didn't Delores walk to the river to get more water and returns to the soldier who's now dead. Did Will maybe euthanasia him?
-first host Will meets in \W/ is the same host that MiB sees and says "oh its u, i thot u were decomissioned ages ago" or whatever
-MiB has a shirt with a weird sorta tie on it v similar to Will's
-did Maeve slash MiB's throat? what happened if a guest has been injured?

Spoiler: multiple storylines theory

this s--- is convoluted but hear me out. I think MiB is Will and I think we're watching 3 story lines simultaneously. let me explain what happens in each story line
story line 1
-the town with the church exists
-Delores is the oldest host
-this is like the BETA of westworld
-Arnold does something in this story line that causes that 'complete failure' or whatever, that was referenced early in the show.
-Bernard in ep 1-3 ish is actually Arnold. a real person, that's speaking to Delores etc - filling her with those ideas that make her "real" or "human"
-Bernard-Arnold is killed due to the "thing" that happened at the park in that town.
story line 2
-Ford makes Robo-Bernard
-The town with the church is gone
-Will and his friend enter
-Delores is buggy and starts remembering things from her past
-Will becomes infatuated/obsessesed with Westworld/Delores
-Will notices Delores isn't quite right, can tell if hosts are "self aware" in a sense
(this is where im not sure what happens next etc. but i believe Will, next episode, will be booted from westworld. I think he'll watch Delores die by the hands of his friend, then his friend will "k---" him or whatever to make him f--- off outta the park. I feel like after that he becomes some sort of obsessive guy with mental issues IRL)
story line 3
-The town and church is back
-MiB's story line - if he is actually Will, then he's returning to Westworld to finish his story
-MiB is always talking about hosts emotions/memories/actions. almost as if he's trying to plant the seeds in their mind to make them act out. If he's Will, then Will experienced it first hand with Delores and he's eitheir
1) on quest to find Delores that remembers him
2) he knows he can make the hosts remember him but hes trying to figure out the 'end game' to westowrld, or way to get his Delores love life back.
-Will said to Delores when he leaves the park in Story Line 2 he'd be going home to marry his fiancee.
-MiB in this latest episode said his wife killed herself and stuff. hints at him being Will, getting married, becoming obsessed with westworld and likely emotionally traumatized from it too, causing his marriage to hit the rocks.

At the end of the episode, Wyatt's henchwoman called him "Theodore"; unless I'm hearing wrong, I'm 100% certain it's his name.

rewatching now she was talking to teddy. like teddy is short for theodore. she even says
"youve been gone a long time theodore, but it's time for you to come back into the fold" at which point wyatt's crew pop out.

That episode really confused me for some reason but I can't pinpoint why.

3-storylines makes sense now that @Coco mentioned it.

Gonna have to read up on this episode to make sense of what just transpired.
