You have to listen 'seriously' to be 'into' hip-hop at a young age?

You can't just like other facets of a hip-hop song like the beats or the melodies etc? It's all gotta be about the lyrics?

So were you, like, not a kid with a computer?

Literally everyone I know had a pc had unrestricted access

Which isn't great parenting for sure but that's just how the world works

My parents listened to every type of music you could think of, they bought every Eminem album, even both d12 albums.
The last Eminem album they bought was Relapse. We had/have a system whenever an album came out.. we wouldnt listen until all of us were together in the car.. my father used think the obie trice line ''I never would have thought that I'd see you out of control
Even though, my penis was deep down in your hole'' was hilarious, he used to rewind that s--- 20 times lol
In school my classmates thought it was cool as s--- to hear my parents listening to Eminem when they'd pick me up from school... my parents had me when they were very young & the rest of my classmates parents had them when they were in the late 30's & 40's, so their parents were old as s---.

There was a guy who lived in my area who was 11 when i was 1 years old, ive known him since then, he practically lived in my house as he was here everyday, my parents practically raised him, So i would consider him family, well, he introduced me to artists like NWA, DMX, The Notorious B.I.G., Outkast, Snoop Dogg, D.O.C, Nas & so many more. So i was introduced to rap at such a young age that its fused in me.

Meh, probably 11-ish when my friend showed me The Eminem Show CD. Without Me was the first song that got me into Hip Hop.

I feel that homie up until roughly a year ago we had 100kbps Internet I know the struggle too

And by 9 years old I'd legitimately found out about lime wire and decided I'd rather use a workaround on some website where I'd you right clicked the song you could download it

    I was a f---ing nerd up until 6th grade

No, I'm not missing the point.

Thanks for trying though. You still didn't sway me on your viewpoint.

That's how I am with my kids in regards to music..I used to listen to whatever I wanted with them but decided to tone it down for now until they're old enough to understand what they're listening to. I love introducing them to all sorts of music that they would have probably never heard of otherwise.

i will be the same when i have kids, where swearing is concerned i never swear unless its for effect, but i dont want my kids to swear.
My parents left me watch south park & things all my life, but i have an amazing friendship with them because i was exposed to all that stuff as they wanted me to form my own opinion on what is right & whats not.

Music is just music. Ill play all types of music, but im not going to play something like biggies track ''Big Booty Hoes'' lmao.

Being a young parent makes it so easy to want to be the cool parent. I thought it was cool that my kids liked eminem or tech n9ne and 2paC but after it awhile they start picking up on stuff and it's kinda like ehhh do i really want my kids reciting these lyrics at school or out in the public? Definitely made a transition to older rock music and soul. I have a 3 and 4 year old and they love the Beatles and the Doors..they love Marvin Gaye and Adele
