Sep 26, 2017 Rap that focuses more on the technical side of rap more than melodic rap. Lyrical rap is like DOOM, Aesop etc. This can't be the first time you've heard lyrical rap being used...
Sep 26, 2017 We're talking about on a greater scale. Snapbacks and du-rags were everywhere in the 2000's. Not so much nowadays.
Sep 26, 2017 no i've heard it used plenty of times--by people with loaded, myopic definitions of "lyrical." is meek mill not lyrical rap? gucci?
Sep 26, 2017 -men acting like men and not spending 2 hours picking out r-----ed c---- outfits to look like a convalescent transgender when they leave the house. -not posting emotional fa---- s---/having tantrums on social media. -Rappers weren't building a fake image of themselves to look like the gospel and were building fake images to look cooler and more badass (looks at Chance the, no-major-label-but-major-distributor, no-drugs-but-owns-tobacco-fields-in-toronto, rapper) been listening to him for years now, can tell you 100% without a doubt he is actually not lyrical he is L music LOL L L L L L LLLLLLLL CAUSE DRAKE DEMOLISHED HIM HAHA L omg if someone says meek mill just scream "L" in their face lolololol hahahhaa
Sep 26, 2017 because my point is that it's not a real sub genre. it's a term used by partisans. it's also important to remember that genre is necessarily defined, in part, by audience.
Sep 26, 2017 Arguing with more people again There's no discussion with him give it up on his end it's always name calling and saying you're factually incorrect and a b---- for not agreeing with his opinion
Sep 26, 2017 no term is used exclusively by anybody stop making s--- leaps in logic like this to try and bolster your argument Except, actually, it does? Like, if you genuinely can't tell how someone might mistake some of the vocals for mumbling, or can't tell how someone might dislike the sound as a result, or how someone would then find it a useful descriptor or think it was one, you're out of your god d--- mind man. That's blatant denial. You have to realize this doesn't just stop being a thing because you don't like the term, and no amount s-----y articles like that change anything. They don't explain it away. The term doesn't stop being a thing. And as long as new stuff with a vocal style that could be considered "mumble rap" gets made, it's going to persist.
Sep 26, 2017 MF Doom, Nas, Joey Badass are examples of lyrical rap. Lil Pump, Kodak Black, Carti are not. It doesn't mean any of the artists are trash they just focus on different areas, like making catchy songs.
Sep 26, 2017 i still wouldn't mind an exact definition of what technical rap skill means because doom and aesop are pretty distinctly different rappers
Sep 26, 2017 kodak black is both a better and denser songwriter than joey badass though--so what good does this even have as a descriptor.
Sep 26, 2017 do i have to make the future - how it was thread again? lyrical rap is not real and i hate WPG so therefore our shared """opinion""" is unbias
