Sep 26, 2017 i can imagine someone hearing a yachty song and saying "this sounds like mumbling." i can imagine someone hearing one young thug song and saying "these two lines are not really enunciated." i cannot: a. see a half-intelligent person using that as a thread to create a sub-genre in their mind, or b. pretend to have an intelligent discussion about this while totally ignoring the context/baggage of the term. you sound like you're re-litigating the bad boy wars.
Sep 26, 2017 Rich the kid aka silly mmmuummmbbbllleebsbsb rapper can make a song with skillfully rhyming technical rapping rapper Kendrick Lamar but we can't all get along??:/
Sep 26, 2017 it's not that we don't understand WHY someone would call it mumble rap, it's that it's an inaccurate and, quite frankly, somewhat racist term used by people to disparage and pool together southern rappers from different regions that sound nothing alike.
Sep 26, 2017 see, you're proving my point. you're not talking about technique, you're talking about aesthetics. and no one in here is "defending" contemporary rap by saying it's "catchy." young thug is a much better songwriter than everyone you listed except for nas and ali on their good days.
Sep 26, 2017 i don't know what to tell you, man. if you think eminem has ever written a song half as good as tupac's two-dozen best, i just don't think we're living in the same world.
Sep 26, 2017 U literally just said future and thug sound similar cus they "both have the triplet flow"
Sep 26, 2017 You said consistently lyrical. Black Thought has never dropped a bad bar. Lil Wayne is better at some aspects (punchlines, metaphors) Black Thought is better at other aspects (technicality, social consciousness)
Sep 26, 2017 how is it inaccurate as a basic descriptor of a vocal delivery tho if that's what it sounds like to the person calling it that cause that's literally all it is jfc
Sep 26, 2017 You asked how their flows were similar, I said it's because they both have the triplet flow I'm not saying all mumble rappers are the exact same, you can't say lyrical rappers are the exact same, I'm just saying mumble rappers, for the most part, all have the Migos' triplet flow
