To answer OP (I know this thread was over half a year ago but I felt compelled to respond), usually when I feel down I tend to go insular and just shut myself off for a bit and just listen to music or read stuff about music or sports. Just something to pass the time.
Playing sports (whenever it's in-season for me) is another thing I do to get myself out of a rut and it works more often than not. Guess my point being is that you need to re-calibrate somehow and focusing your energies on rudimentary tasks usually gives us a chance to do that.
Also I'd just like to parrot what the rest of the posters in this thread have said. Some sound advice was provided for sure. -

It can get annoying when you see people doing this on social media. But I've always understood why they do it.Ordinary Joel, Johnny Guitar and Caine like this. -

Cooking and listening to music or a podcast. I swear to god getting in the zone and cooking is like meditation, it just gives your brain a chance to not think for awhile because you're so focused on the task at hand.RVD, Ordinary Joel and Caine like this. -

I sleep.
Usually I end up sleeping for like 2 days in a row and wake up because I'm dehydrated. But sleeping helps me get away from it all.
If I can't sleep for as long as I want to, then I try to distract myself by watching movies, shows or playing video games.
I create music and a lot of art/visuals as a hobby and a job, so that helps if I have a deadline and need to finish something. But when I am depressed I can't get the creative juices flowing, so there's no point in even trying.Red Rum, OwI and Ordinary Joel like this.
