Dec 23, 2020He owes us nothing. Reached his pinnacle and could very well have gone the way of Kurt Cobain. I'm happy he came back and gave us some good music. Still, I hope hope he does more

RE: OP.
I just want a couple of songs in which he layers the vocals how he used to do.
Like in Fight Music, Sing For The Moment, etc.
That's all I want.n9ne, Elem, Victim and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Concept(s)
Content, content & content.
No more dumb similes or “purposely” bad wordplay.
Now he’s pretty much perfected the album he’s been trying to make since Kamikaze, he needs to move on from this battle rap/dictionary rap hybrid & start making more connected projects.
We used to get an artistic evolution from Em with each album, this one has been slower which is to be expected at this career point & with how many projects he’s been pumping out over the last couple of years.
I think the only way to successfully do this is lock in with 1 or a group of in house producers & make the album front to back together.n9ne, jankland and rockinwhiz like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

1. Strong emphasis on concept songs similar to Stan, Bad Guy, etc or or a whole concept album similar to Good Kid Maad City/d--- by Kendrick. He excels in that area.
2. Put out an album full of soul samples or Boom Bap style beats similar to what Jay-Z did on 4:44 or Gibb's latest works. It'd be nice to see Em dabble in rapping over that style of production, especially as an OG in the game.
3. Collaborate with more lyrical rappers outside the Shady/Slaughterhouse group such as Kendrick, Gibbs, Cole, Lupe Fiasco, Kodak Black, Wayne, Roc Marciano, Ka, Elzhi(who's literally from Detroit), etc.
4. Don't focus on critics or detractors anymore post MTBMB. Just don't pay attention to them any more.
That's basically it.n9ne, jankland and froboy6942 like this. -

I honestly think he perfected puns/wordplay to the extent that they can be dialed back for sure in the future. I know he could have reasonably dropped them a long time ago but I think that he has been wanting to develop them since like Recovery and they are the tightest, most clever and best integrated into the overall enjoyability of his music that they ever have been on Side B. I mean we've went from "I'm an uncooked slab of beef laying on your kitchen floor / Other words I'm off the meat rack" to "Take a foe out like fee fi fum" Even if you've never enjoyed wordplay Em you have to acknowledge the mastery he's achieved in that area of his rapping.
But yeah, I think moving forward we could stand to dial it back a bit since it seems like there's nowhere to go from here in the realm of wordplay except for more of what we already got on MTBMB/Side B. Which might get stale? I dunno.n9ne, GawDEDEDE and The Mandalorian like this.(This ad goes away when signing up)
