Personally, I think he could top it easily. It had a really rough part at the end and as long as Kenny doesn't have that it'll be better

The new album should show growth and I think it will be better than the first album

Good post. I do like simplicity in music, but there are many artists who can push the boundaries and produce something great. Taking risks without making your music sound forced or different for the sake of being different is something that I really appreciate. Too bad that this isn't happening too much in hip-hop.

On another note, I listened to Yung Lean's album twice since we talked dude, and I enjoyed it more. I'll still take some Kyuss or other quality stoner rock more often than rap when I'm in this mood, but yeah, this isn't bad at all.

Just curious man but how do "i" & "Blacker The Berry" come off as preachy?

Didn't say that. Just said that's the trajectory that MC's like him follow, and have for some time now. He= Lupe=Blu=Mos Def (I can go on I'm sure).

As far as the other post...

No.. we do not need more Yeezus. We barely need more Because the Internets, but definitely no more Yeezus.

Going against the grain for the sake of such is fraudulence defined. So is loving something simply BECAUSE that's the title it inherits. Music, first and foremost should be GOOD (good being subjective of course), and all other ulterior motives, whether they be idealistic propaganda spreading, education, etc, are secondary.

I'm quite tired of people getting a pass because they're "different","EDGY"... but their album is a compilation of hot mess that you can only review from what you think was their artistic direction. Accessibility isn't necessarily a requirement, but quite often, great music is very accessible to more than just one narrow column of people.

<.<... I just don't think the album is very good outside of the narrative he told, and most of the songs are weak when attempting to listen to it outside of the grand story. Meaning, that you have to listen to all of it. Most of it doesn't work singularly. Imo, of course.

Bravo for the cleverness. Except it totally would have been a way better pic if anyone cosigned a word I said. You're all apparently huge Kendrick fans... so swing and a miss there. Nice try though.

But it's not being different to be edgy. It's being different and going against convention because it makes you unique, it shows people that you're not the next Eminem, you're the first Yung Lean. It represents a mindset of enjoying creative risks, even when they stumble, over stagnant garbage so many artists are content to release. It's not being "edgy", it's acknowledging and utilizing your gift of musical talent in the most positive way possible

Alright haha. Anyways, why is it a problem if Kendrick goes down this "idealistic/preachy/abrasive/mood[y]" route, it's apparent that Kendrick can execute on these records- see "i" & "Blacker The Berry".

Kendrick always improves and develops more.

The production is definitely going to be better than GKMC, I mean we got: Terrace Martin, Thundercat, Flying Lotus, Sounwave, and Dr Dre all working on the album. That's the A-Team of music production right there. So yes, it's gonna be a whole nother level compared to anything that's out there.

"it wont be as gud as GKMC i am edge lord 3000 #goingagainstthegrain"
check Kendrick's track record. KL EP, O.D, Section.80, GKMC. Consistent as f--- quality-wise. He's only getting better as he progresses. If you've been following Kendrick since before section.80 dropped then you'd agree that all signs point to an album better than GKMC
