Jun 9, 2015 I spose since we're talking "best" it might not be, but I think I honestly prefer it over ATLiens on most days. What makes Speakerboxxx so much lesser than ATLiens in your eyes?
Jun 9, 2015 it's just not as good? don't get me wrong, a lot of speakerboxxx works, but it doesn't have an elevators. it doesn't have a wheelz of steel. it doesn't even have a two dope boyz. it also doesn't have andre, and while the notion that andre is by far the better rapper is grossly and obviously wrong, the interplay between the two is a lot of what made outkast great.
Jun 10, 2015 I don't think it'd influence my list in particular but it was a wild listen now that I went back to it. Speakerboxx is very good but it's just not as good as their combined efforts, SLLF did a much better job at coping without 3Stacks.
Jun 10, 2015 Agreed on the latter part, because I'm someone who prefers Big Boi over Andre (which isn't to discredit Andre by any means, he's obviously still one of the greatest to ever do it).
Jun 10, 2015 as for splitting speakerboxxx/love below, it wouldn't change my rankings. speakerboxxx isn't as good as any of the first four, and while love below is basically s-----y prince rip-offs, it has hey ya and roses and is therefore better than idlewild. taking it a step further: big boi's first solo album is probably better than speakerboxxx? it feels a tiny bit like a zip file of singles for my liking (and i wish royal flush would have been included) but it's a great album. it probably slides into the fifth spot. his second album is abysmal. i feel weird saying idlewild is better than, well, anything, so those two are a tossup at the bottom.
Jun 10, 2015 I'd be very happy seeing an Outkast album in this day and age and I know they are always more than capable of crafting good songs but I wonder just exactly how would the album sound?
Jun 10, 2015 D'Angelo's latest work brought some blind optimism lol but I agree all good things must come to an end. I got that vibe it won't happen based on their concerts from last year.
