Aug 17, 2015 See, I don't like the overall production style from his pre-808s albums at all, I'd much rather have 808s/yeezus/mbdtf sounding stuff anyday
Aug 17, 2015 I don't judge the album only based on these three tracks but imo it's hard to consider an album to be such a classic when it had 14 songs and at least 3 of these are that boring
Aug 17, 2015 My favourite Kanye Album honestly the samples and lyrical content are my favourite parts of the album not to mention at least 3 songs from that album are in my top 5 kanye songs
Aug 17, 2015 Depends how old you are? When you first listened to it? When it first came out there was nothing quite like it and the sound back then was much simpler in general. I'm guessing you had no introduction to it until many years later, prob after Graduation or at the same time. Nostalgia paid a huge part in how people feel about music. CD is my favorite Kanye album because it was the first thing I heard from him, I bought it on release day, nothing sounded anything like it at the time and it reminds me of my youth.
Aug 17, 2015 lmao @ get em high being boring, or even nwp also, uhh..what kind of math is that? a classic cant have 11/14 great/entertaining songs and 3 u think are boring?
Aug 17, 2015 I have the opposite problem. Why is MBDTF considered a "classic" album. It is a great album, but nowhere near a classic IMO. I think that CD is closer to a classic. Yezzus had a few gems but was a flop IMO. 808's=trash
Aug 17, 2015 I remember when Kanye dropped. More specifically, when the album leaked early. It was a different world back then. While most rap ended up on a mix CD and played in the car, Kanye had an album that everyone devoted a CD to. It had something for everyone without compromising the bigger picture of the album. It's a really organic sounding album. The production, the sound engineering, the lyrics, the features, etc. come together seamlessly and cohesively. Great album.
Aug 18, 2015 As others have stated, it brought something new to the genre, as well as started a trend as most rap around that time seemed to be grimey gangsta rap s---. Personally, I'm not a Kanye fan but I love TCD. It has this atmosphere to it which is hard to describe, it has a good balance of serious tracks and silly tracks, and there's some relatable s--- in there. Also, The New Work Out Plan is underrated. It's hilarious, and the music video was great.
