i dismiss older films cause they are s--- tbh. if it has grainy sound or picture it can f--- off. if it's black and white it can commit suicide. how boring. I dont spend all day doing digital art and perfecting every minute detail and making sure every edge is crisp and perfect just to turn around and spend my free time staring at some hore s--- picture quality.

I also appreciatte CGI more than guys like you, who have no idea where to begin with it.
PS - takes more effort and skill to CGI something then to press record on a camera. i am your superior now.

Again, idk where "guys like you" statement comes from cause I never expressed a dislike for CGI or a preference towards older movies :khaled:

This is one h--- of a closed-minded point of view.

And if you need credentials to prove something, I hold a Master's of film.

Besides @Vahn gifing a goat film, there are only a handful of titles mentioned here which would make my top 200, and Place Beyond the Pines is the only other goat film.

Overrated IMDB top 10 bs can go f--- off. American mainstream cinema from the last 20 years is not very good, no matter how much you all want to parade the films you grew up watching in your local cineplex.

nah, he's legit making some inspired work. preconceptions are hard to overcome. When a neutral party of open minded filmgoers judge the film is when the truth will be revealed... to both of us. And then I'll nightcap with a good single malt.

    close minded point of view?
so because I watch a bunch of garbage s--- like Eraserhead, or 12 angry men, breakfast at tiffany's, the s---, the bad and the terrible etc etc and dont like the sound or apparence of them due to prehistoric recording equipment - I'm close minded?

not as close minded as the person who thinks flexing a masters in film will change the subjective opinion of others.

i forget what you do for $$, but championing an undiscovered voice -- even if it is f---ing vahn lmao -- is never a bad thing. i remember going to a local screening here and this critic was pushing Andrew Bujalski hard, rly helped the guys career take off

Those are all mainstream american films you took off IMDB's top 250 list and probably heard one or two people mention at random points in your life. I doubt you've watched those, and even if you have, if think those 3 films prove you aren't closed-minded than you're completely delusional.

And it's okay because ignorance is bliss, and clearly you can't fathom the depths to which cinema extends.

It's like you're floating at the shore never realizing how vast the ocean. Then talking about how much better the barnacles are.

I currently work for a major brewery, but I used to program for the Vancouver International Film Festival, so I know a lot of players in the film game in BC.

The screening is an open mic nite meant to showcase undiscovered works.

by the way, @Papa Andy, if you haven't seen @Vahn work from this year, works like EN SHAMBLE, Fever, More, etc. then you really don't know what he's got lined up. I'm telling you, early Vahn was garbage, but the new s--- is legit enough I'm willing to stand by it in a theater. That's saying something.
