    Term-X relevant.

It was only when I came across animosity on forums like Cole Nation when saying Kendrick would blow up and be bigger than Cole, that I became a stan. Sometimes you just get a hunch, around 2011 the guys on that board felt it was inconceivable that he would eclipse Cole, and through debating it.. my support became stronger I guess. :idk:

Low key had Overly Dedicated, Barbed Wire was the only track that had any real spins then though, fast forward to HiiPower, Kendrick became 'the one' in my eyes, had all his unreleased s--- etc. When it came to who would be leaders of the new school, Cole never had the same x-factor.. Drake had too many of his elements. The market needed a Kendrick Lamar, a rappers rapper who could go full circle without selling out.

Kendrick has literally no peers now.

I'm sick, the Easter holidays haven't finished so I don't have classes and I can't sleep despite the beers, so long post incoming friends. I'll bold the stanned artists instead of a tl;dr version. Here are some spoiler tags as a safety net.

The first crew that I stanned were the Wu-Tang, back when I was a kid; a friend of mine from school was into rap heavily (the basic stuff, wu, pac etc) and everytime I went to his house (he had a playstation and I didn't xD) we listened to the wu and Sunz Of Man (lolwut). I didn't understand more than half of the lyrics back then (we dem euro boys) but it was the first time I listened to rap, they sounded so unique. Enter the Wu-Tang is now among my favourite albums of all time across all genres.

Then I started checking out more of this rap music; Illmatic was a must listen (that's what everyone said). I didn't like it back then except from Represent, it was so smooth. This changed when I was like 18, and I think it's one of the best records of all time for a while now (I even brought a vinyl back from my trip to Scotland despite not having a gramophone or something :)). I can't say that I have stanned Nas that much, but I've listened to his music frequently for many years.

For the next years (from my 12 to like 15-16) I stanned Eminem and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (wtf?). One of my brother's friend bought him TES for his birthday and it has a booklet with the lyrics (which I still have). I was getting kinda bored with the Wu and my friend's playstation games so that cd was a great surprise. Em's skill and confidence was impressive, he was funny, he had that idgaf attitude, sick flows etc etc. He also showed me more rappers in Till I Collapse (I was just a boy). Em lead me to Biggie, and Notorious Thugs to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, whose 90's material was f---ing amazing. Rap kept on impressing young Peter more and more.

Then I grew up and discovered sex, psychedelic and classic rock, all thanks to the same girl. The standom started reaching different stages all at once. What a time to be alive.

And then came the heartbreak after a few months, and young Peter was angry and went back to his gangsta roots, but not for long. A cool irish guy from a rap board (the guy's username was knoccc) introduced me to Atmosphere and CunninLynguists. Musical Chairs was the first (and for a short while) the only atmos song that I liked. After a few weeks they started clicking, and I've been a fan since then (Slug is the best rapper everrrrr). Southsiders made me sad, but it's ok. A Piece Of Strange and YCIHMFWH were on rotation heavily, then I decided to look up for more of their stuff, and I wasn't disappointed. During that time I realised that Illmatic is a great record, and I was kinda disappointed that Em was on a hiatus. Most of the usual "real rap" bored me (this has changed for some rappers ofc, but the term remains r-----ed) and I refused to give no-real rap a chance. I was just a boy.

Then I made a new best friend during a football (soccer for the f--s) match; I was playing in defence because I s----d but couldn't see s--- without my glasses so they couldn't have me as a keeper (haha), and Anthony was on the opposite team as a forward because he was too bored to run but was a good player. We f----- up the game lol, my r-----ed humour was similar to his, and he was interested in music and graffiti/street art like me. He got me into trip hop (Massive Attack and Portishead FOREVAH) and Radiohead, who had released In Rainbows a few months ago. I started with OK Computer, moved to Kid A, moved to its sicker counterpart, then started listening to them from the start. In Rainbows is my favourite album of all time. Has the light gone out for you? Cause the light's gone out for me

Then I moved on to different bands and really liked Arctic Monkeys a long time before it would become cool. My fluorescent adolencence was approaching its end, and so does this wall of text.

Then came another heartbreak, along with 808's, and a Ye fan was born. And then the interest for rap intensified, and Ab-Soul's Long Term 2 lead me to Kendrick in 2011. The overreactions regarding TPAB kinda annoy me because some threads are getting ruined, but it's ok. It's been nice "watching" Kendrick for that long, and the album is good so everything is fine. There are many other artists that I really like and stan more or less, but I've been typing for ~25' and this is getting too long so I'll save the last 2 entries for Ancient Astronauts, who are a producer duo from Germany that make hip hop beats and trip hop music with amazing sampling and I met in person when they visited my country last year, and V.I.C., a stoner rock group from my small town who give a nice traditional folk touch to their Kyuss influence. Everyone has passed the test of time, except from Eminem as you probably guessed, but who cares.

    That's all folks

Why is compromising a negative if the music is just as good as (or better than) if he hadn't 'compromised'?

I'd just leave it here. It's pretty cool to see everyone's stories about how they discovered Cole. If you move it to music and make it for all artists you're going to have multiple different opinions and people will start putting others down. All jokes aside, I'm a big fan of Em and anytime I see someone say they liked a song, whether it be good or bad in the eyes of the critics, you get multiple people cracking jokes on that one person or discounting their taste in music.

Music hits home so good, but i believe that the countless hours of watching interviews and performances and his whole come up story are what made me stan Cole in that mixtape era. So i can say J.Cole the person is who made me a stan, that side of him. The music is just a bonus. I'm just glad the guy did it and made it happen. If he can, you and I also can.
