May 11, 2015 The end product of his songs are what makes Kanye West a great artist. He's never shy to collaborate on all aspects of a song, from composition, features, lyrics, etc. He's gifted at blending other people's artistry with his own to create really good music.
May 11, 2015 Best skill is production but there a lot of better producers than him so i wouldnt call it special The ability to stay relevant by posting naked pics of his wife, ranting on stage and interrupting award shows for attention an jumping in lakes makes him special because no one has gone that far to be noticed before
May 11, 2015 so like Dre Havoc Jcole Andre 3k Q Tip Flying Lotus and the many other artist who does this....
May 11, 2015 lol if you were hinting at my message (since I don't remember anyone else calling Kanye's rapping ability B+), then know that I've criticized J.Cole for s-----y content before. But that does not mean I cannot be a fan of him. Same s--- with Kanye (I'm a fan of Kanye). Just some of these people cannot fathom at all that their idol has any faults or shortcomings.
May 11, 2015 if we're talking about relevancy, which is the metric you brought up, let's step back from our own tastes for a moment--if part of being a "classic record" is defining and/or altering your era, he has at least five. there is no way that college dropout, graduation, 808s, dark fantasy, or yeezus fail to hit that criteria.
May 11, 2015 Your calling Graduation 808 and yeezus classics? I can understand why people think MBDTF is but never the others
May 11, 2015 You dont call something a classic album by that though, you know that its a lot more and none of those 3 did that anyway
May 11, 2015 you were talking about kanye's relevancy. that's what makes an album a "classic" by those same parameters, sorry, that's just how it goes. if you don't think graduation defined and shifted hip-hop in 2007 then i don't know what to tell you. i don't think the record is a classic from a critical standpoint--i honestly don't even like it very much--but it's one of the most relevant albums of the century.
May 11, 2015 I said his ability to stay relevant is what makes him bigger than he should be pretty much, i didnt mention any albums, that is not what makes an album classic at all. Hiphop from about 07-10 was for the most part trash anyway. And no it isnt i rarely even see people talking about it the album was s---. Also to add on the Kanye cant rap argument he is not a very good rapper at all, if the production wasnt good no one would care about him when does Kanye ever do freestyles or just spit etc
May 11, 2015 And your ability to misconstrue literally every action Kanye has ever done makes you special, but in the short bus kind of way.
May 11, 2015 When you think about it this can't be true based off the amount of hate he gets everywhere except rap forums
