Mar 22, 2015 At the Grammy Awards of 2003 it was nominated for Album of the Year and became Eminem's third straight LP to win the award for Best Rap Album. It has been certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA, has sold over 9.2 million copies in the U.S., and over 19 million albums worldwide. You can't beat that, numbers don't lie, it will always be an all time great album, whether or not you hide your inner stan it's still a album hard to conquer.
Mar 22, 2015 I couldn't help myself. This post stood out like a street fight video on worldstar. But to stay on topic, I think Kendrick has the potential to be a great. He hasn't done anything to set him back.
Mar 22, 2015 Blasphemy, Koolo would never say such things. You're not too different though lol. You stand by your opinions very strongly too (as you should).
Mar 22, 2015 he was talking about the legitimacy of other people as critics, not about whether they were right or not. different things.
Mar 22, 2015 He's already in the convo, assuming he doesn't just fall off really hard but I don't see that. But to be the GREATEST I think he has to be a better rapper. h--- have the discography when its said and done but I just simply don't think he's as good a rapper as a few of the names you've mentioned. Eminem to me is the best (at his peak), Nas is riiiiight behind, Jay Z is certainly close. Big and Pac sorta get a legacy pass to be in this convo, and rightfully so. The game wouldn't be what it is without them.
Mar 23, 2015 kendrick is a superlatively great rapper. even on his weaker songs, the technical aspects are great. and what the f--- is up with the last sentence i quoted? biggie is maybe the best pure rapper ever.
Mar 23, 2015 This basically all applies to 2Pac's All Eyez On Me record which you think is his worst so....
Mar 23, 2015 I'm not saying he's not a great technical rapper. But he's not touching the others in their peak, and I'm sorry that was sorta confusing - biggie gets a legacy pass for only having so much music. He's a faaantastic rapper, PAC gets a pass for being a little less tech skilled but had literally everything else that makes you great.
Mar 23, 2015 i don't get what you're saying (also even if all eyez, is, on balance, fifth--which i'm not sure it is--that would still make it fantastic)
May 23, 2015 K.dot is the biggie of his time....different flow and a superior rapper of his peers ...Cole and Kendrick is biggie and Jay ....similar style but different execution plus friends
May 23, 2015 Give kendrick another 5 years and he will be goat. He's a artist that doesn't feed off image and that will help him a lot. He can work with a underground rapped like tech n9ne then turn around and do a track with Taylor swift. Plus he got the right people backing him.
May 23, 2015 smh. gkmc is a classic. biggie had two masterpieces that dwarf it. section 80 is a very good record and butterfly is middling. saying kendrick has surpassed biggie is like saying "i avoid music made before 2010 at all cost."
May 23, 2015 i already replied to this, but: as great as pac was, there is no way all eyez on me had the wide-reaching influence of either biggie record. some of that can be explained by new york rappers being maddeningly reverent, but not all.
