Dec 20, 2015 You guys aren't getting what I'm saying tho. People who go to dance at a club have expectations for what's playing, and so do the owners of the place. They want it to be stuff they know, usually more popular radio songs, and mixed in a very dancy way with a lot of versions/remixes meant for clubs/dancing. My music isn't like that and neither are my mixes... they're short, can't be done live, they're too dark, the BPM is waaaaaaaay lower, and 99% of it is not stuff people will know This would never fly at a club: Not when the club and people going expect this:
Dec 20, 2015 once I get the time (and a power cord for my current keyboard so I can actually use it), I intend on learning at least enough to write better with it
Dec 20, 2015 I'm just saying that's not going to go well, like, at all. I'd probably get booed and wouldn't get offers to play there again, where ever it was.
Dec 20, 2015 As it stands the offer is there and you're not taking it anyways though. If it doesn't pan out then well it wasn't meant to be.
Dec 20, 2015 It's not do-able right now either way. I don't have a way to get to these clubs. They're too far without a car since I've moved. And I still don't know how to DJ, so it's impossible for me to even perform at all, let alone gamble with mixes like mine.
Dec 21, 2015 I have no idea about life atm, im doing the best I have been in a while and doing what 'is right' for me and I still feel like banging my head against the wall.
Dec 21, 2015 With all do respect man after reading that yeah you probably won't do anything with your music. The sad part is it will have nothing to do with the music you make and ultimately be because you didn't try. If you're that confident you won't make it then, well yeah, you probably won't because it was over before it even started for you. I understand it's not conventional or "any job you can pick up" but is that really what you want? That's that whole risk/reward thing. We get one chance to play this game called life and 99.% of the people on this planet choose to play it on the easiest difficulty setting. Whether it's fear of failure, going against the norm, whatever..... that's just how it is and that's why most people don't do s--- in life. I'm just saying we're living in 2015 and any-f---ing-thing is possible. No connections and exposure? Again, it's 2015. You've got to be kidding me. Look at Slim Jesus and Stitches. Look what they've done and it's ALL because of social media. They may be the laughing stock of message boards but they've got more ambition and gumption than any of the people hating on them. If they can do something with music surely you can. To go all in and fail >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> looking back and thinking God d--- what if? That's just my two cents though.
Dec 21, 2015 Other than your music being too niche, this just sounds like excuses. Networking is easier now than ever, and you'd be suprised how many local cafe's/bars/clubs that like to support local, up & coming artists.
Dec 21, 2015 This is how Juicy J first blew up, he played Slob On My Knob for the f--- of it at a party, then the next time he was DJ'ing people were asking him "yo, can u play that s--- u played last time? it was like slob on my knob or something".
Dec 21, 2015 I'm taking an apprenticeship letter in graphic design right now, have been working for one of Norway's best agencies for half a year. If you need help with anything hmu.
Dec 21, 2015 I wanna be a sports agent or a professional scout in the NHL. Currently working odd jobs.
Dec 21, 2015 I would like to write books. I've always had a story but I just can't properly put it into written from.
Dec 21, 2015 holy f--- RT @Cyreides you got a chance to break in from a different route, why pass on the opportunity. just learn and shadow other DJs until you're ready to step up yourself.
Dec 21, 2015 I've honestly always wanted to write some novels and have recently really wanted to learn the drums, but besides that who knows
Dec 21, 2015 I always wanted to be a film director or screen writer.. that "self" is laughing at me all the way to the bank right now I just feel like I'm on the outside looking in..
Dec 21, 2015 on topic, i want to be in the film/tv/music industry in any capacity. these are the things that gave me the most comfort and security my entire life, and thats what i want to contribute to. obviously i want to be the one making the films, or the tv shows, or the songs. but honestly any capacity is fine. i dont necessarily enjoy being a critic, but thats one way ive been able to channel my love for the s---. i want to write for the next breaking bad i want to make music videos for, or manage, the next young thug idk man im currently entering into my last year for a degree in behavioral neuroscience, lol
