Prior to common core, it really depended what state or even county you lived in. Overall though, education here clearly isn't the best and this idea that we have to test children to death by the time they start grade school I think is ridiculous. From my experience of going to a public elementary/middle school and highschool, I wouldn't say either school was bad. Yeah I had my fair share of poor teachers but overall I was able to learn what I was supposed to learn.

It's a race. Instead of having winners and losers, they treat everyone equally. This sounds nice on paper but what you're doing is lowering the standards for everyone. So say the exceptionally smart kids are ahead of their peers, they drag that smart kid back so the others can catch up. It's r-----ed. They focus too much on helping the stupid and not enough on helping the smart people who will change the world for the better.

Also, kids are getting drugged for disobeying their teachers. Though that has more to do with the government trying to take over and control families.
