Religion is a major troll from people over 2000 years ago. Could there be a God? Sure. If there is, is the God from one of the man made religions? No.

A few years ago I could've discussed the subject of religion for hours but now I simply don't care enough. Religion, for some, is their reason for being alive. It's a system to dictate right from wrong, a reason to life's unanswered questions, and essentially a safety net for their entire existence. If that gets someone through each day with the goal to be a better person then cool on them. For me it never made sense. I'd rather live my life as an individual and base my morality on experience and logical instances.

That being said, I do have an interest in Buddhism and it's philosophical roots. It's a non theistic religion. Buddha wasn't a God. He was a living person that taught others his way of living, both through moral and social respect and equality. It's more a way of life than it is a religion. It allows you to make your own choices, good or bad, as long as you understand the potential outcomes. There's no going to h--- for having sex or doing drugs or being lazy. It's a religion based on self awareness and oneness with the Earth.

But nah I don't think about Religion much. Just live my day to day how I wish to live it.

When it comes to religion for me, I think everyone should take time to understand at least the basis of different religions. I grew up with a lot of friends and family that had different religious beliefs, and I made it a priority to take some time to understand why they chose some beliefs over others.

I'm not the least bit religious and never have been, but I do think religions do some good. For many people religion can help get them through tough times and give them the feeling that something is always there for them when no one/nothing else is, so in that sense it can be good. I do think it's kinda sad when people dedicate their whole lives to something that's (in my opinion) based on false beliefs though.

I also don't like the idea of there being so many different religions, feel like it creates separation among people. But I guess you could also say it brings certain groups closer together.

It's easy to blame everything on religion I think that's a copout and lazy way to think about things. We hear about bad things surrounding religion but never good things because generally only bad things make the news

By the way when people say "the world is so evil why doesn't god do anything" do you think god is meant to control us like he's playing GTA or something? It's free will in any case

Personally I'm not religious I feel like I've never been desperate or poor enough to look to some higher power to help me and I've never been rich or happy enough to thank some higher power for my blessings. I feel like I've been too busy to ever have the time to think about that s---. That being said religion is so deeply and culturally ingrained that I do religious things without thinking about it. I believe in the prophets and what they stood for but I stop short at god and the creation of the universe. Anything goes at that point and it's useless to speculate about it

People live, people die. We'll always ask "why?" and perhaps we'll never find out. Religions are a scam, yet they serve a legitimate purpose in many people's lives. Believe what you want to believe, as long as you're happy as often as possible in your microscopic, forgettable existence.

Or we're a simulated computer program.

Im all for religion if it helps people deal with their problems and live an easier life.
For as many issues as religion itself has influenced, who's to say that we'd be better off as a race without it.

It's interesting to learn about as it's been present in culture throughout human history. As far as placing a value judgement on it, idk. The people who study it the most probably wouldn't even approach it that way. Not very meaningful. Also calls into questions whether religious ideas shape culture or culture shapes religious ideas.

No, I don't personally have any faith, but people still learn about Greek mythology and what not despite not believing in it. You don't have to believe in genies to read Arabian Nights. You don't have to be a Christian to enjoy Kendrick Lamar's music or Terence Malick's movies.
