I think its definitely reasonable to put Em in a greatest rappers of all time list. hate him or love him, he’s widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever do it. and there was that stage around 00-02 where he was genuinely in contention for best rapper alive.

but THE goat is a stretch.

Kendrick is one of the greatest rappers to come up in the 2010s, but I don’t think his influence compares to future’s. What/who has Kendrick really influenced aside from maybe other TDE members?

Probably not just because Life is Good exists
future being the most influential rap artist of the 2010s isn't a bold statement at all. He's an extremely obvious and routine pick. The only other artists I can think of are keef and migos—and maybe young thug as a sleeper pick.

I'm not saying every single year he put our rap album of the year, but I am saying I wouldn't bat an eye a anyone saying any of these were the best rap album of the year even if I don't necessarily agree:
    2012: pluto
    2014: monster
    2015: 56 Nights, Beast Mode, DS2
    2017: Hendrix
    2019: The Wizrd

Also one random thread on this forum that skews toward Eminem fans is horrible anecdotal evidence lol

I don't think 50 had a long enough reign to be in the top 10. Top 25 yeah. There's a lot of artists I'd put in the top 10 above 50.

You could put Nas in the top 10 and I wouldn't be mad but I think he's in the top 20 range.

Dre is a tough one because he's most iconic as a producer. He has a great voice for rap, three good-to-classic albums and I don't give a s--- that most of his stuff is ghostwritten, but it's hard for me to put him on a top ten rapper list for some reason.

Future is probably the most influential artist of the 2010s and he's been dropping projects in contention for not only his best project but for rap album of the year pretty much every year since 2011. He's been around for almost a decade now. People don't bat an eye at kendrick being in a top 10 list when they've been around for the same amount of time.

I think beyond Jay/Big/Pac/Wayne being undeniable there's a LOT of good choices for the rest of a top 10 list.

It doesn't feel like a 2Pac album. It just feels really manufactured—I think it's hard for someone who never collaborated with the artist in question to make a posthumous album.

I do dig Ghetto Gospel and Hennessy on that album though. Even if splicing together his vocals so he shouts out Obie Trice is :wtf2wtf:

I get it but you can’t compare Dr. Dre and f---ing Future if comparing “best” rappers. Favorite sure, but you can’t deny the influence Dre has had on the industry. He’s an icon.

Nelly gave us one of the best albums to date with CG, shame he went mad mainstream/pop after that.

Generally in music, death awards legendary status to many artists. Not talking specifically about Biggie or Pac.

I’m truthfully the same way. I listen to rap for mostly wordplay, and also production/flow are important .

Well you aren't going to get a better answer than that! Although out of the 3 albums mentioned here my personal favourite is One Be Lo's S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M
