Aug 15, 2017 Terrorism has to occur against civilians. These people are armed militants pushing for regime change and ethnic cleansing. So, no, I wouldn't consider it terrorism (a word that hasn't meant much post 9-11) to stifle a fascist movement that our country's processes have failed to address up to this point. Antifa is rightly characterized as "fighting fire with fire". They haven't gone beyond the actions of the fascists themselves, despite the lean of the news coverage. Antifa only springs up where fascism is, their uniting cause in these instances is that white nationalism is dangerous, and they aren't organized into a body that pushes an agenda so much as individual actors whose agenda is characterized by positions in the negative. People who would say antifa's actions fuel the growth of white extremism are ignoring the growth of white extremism up to this point. With or without antifa, the white extremists embolden and grow. I don't see any other immediate solutions to disincentivizing the organization and political action of hate groups atm. The antifa provocateurs reveal the hate and violence beneath the rhetoric that white extremism has adopted which helps normalize them. Anybody who believes in systemic racism et. al probably/should also believe in systemic causes of police corruption and misconduct. That's how you go about treating the problem. Equating disadvantaged peoples with law enforcement isn't very helpful of a comparison beyond that.
