Aug 13, 2017 I don't think very much of Republicans who call themselves Libertarians. I think they think calling themselves that makes them noble some how. I'm sure the goverment is far less in my life than theirs and I'm more than happy to help out with my taxes to make society run better with people who need it. I always think about how Ayn Rand died cashing Social Security checks to know that they are all phonies.

Aug 13, 2017 Nah, I think you're 100% right about that, I should have said that 'the act of lighting cars on fire and breaking restaurant windows isn't helpful to anyone' rather than 'any movement that...' It's honestly not that I think the end of stomping out white nationalism isn't worth the means of sacrificing some cars and shop windows in the process (because it most definitely is), but that people who are more in the middle and don't pay a lot of attention to this type of thing see this and view it as the same thing as any other group (ie, white nationalists) causing a ruckus. It's how we get people thinking BLM are terrorists and the apathetic 'both sides are crazy, I'm gonna do nothing' response.
Aug 13, 2017 Outside of the US, it's far more coherent. I have gripes with communism and capitalism. I'm not an economist. I think both systems have proven themselves to have significant shortcomings. I'm in support of "better". In late stage capitalism that involves things like separation of wealth and state, increasing regulations on corporations, addressing inequality with sound policy, etc. Can that happen without a socialist revolution? Dunno. Funny how both capitalists and communists look at their failed examples and claim it was "crony capitalism not the real free market" or "wasn't real socialism". It's clear both systems are susceptible to failure. I'm not gonna pick between dystopias.

Aug 13, 2017 I think trying to force a kid to be super racist in the 2010's in America probably works out the same trying to make your kid save their virginity to marriage in 2010's America. 10 years ago there was an Aryian band called "Prussian Blue" made up of 12 year old blonde twin girls... Who sang a bunch of love songs to Hitler... Pretty sure they were smoking weed with black boyfriends before they hit 17.

In 1974 they added the inscription " Although the "battle of Liberty Place" and this monument are important parts of the New Orleans history, the sentiments in favor of white supremacy expressed thereon are contrary to the philosophy and beliefs of present-day New Oleans." in 1993 the inscription in the picture res posted was removed. This year the monument was removed completely. The statue that the white supremacists are fighting over in VA is a statue of Robert E Lee.
