Gotta be Eminem. Maybe the most disappointing decline in rap history. Hasn't dropped a great album since 14 YEARS and ppl still talk about him as the GOAT.

2pac and it's not even close. The fact that a vast majority of hip-hop fans crown him as the undeniable GOAT is pretty ridiculous. I can see why some might say Eminem but there's at least a solid community of fans that recognize Eminem has fallen off. With 2pac, it's d--- near automatic to hear people say he's the best.

its not ridiculous when you look at his body of work and how influential he is. what you are talking about is people just ignorantly rating Pac highly without knowing anything about his discography. The people like that are going to have a typical generic safe "mainstream" list with the predictable characters. People can't really say Pac fell off like Eminem did because he never did. All 5 of his albums are very good work, a couple of them being classics.

Influence is another discussion to have. I'm fine with people thinking Pac is one of the best, I think he's top 10 all time. But to act like he has no competition like Ghostface, Nas, Jay-Z, Slug, Andre 3000 etc. don't have discographies that are very arguably better than his is ludicrous. That's the norm though, especially where I live (California). People gasp at the thought of anyone being better than 2pac and regardless if they're ignorant fans or not, a lot of people have jumped on the "2pac is undeniably the goat" hype. That makes him overrated in my book because he's not nearly as untouchable as a lot people try to make him seem. :dno:

Well influence certainly is an important factor if we are talking about rappers being rated highly. Once you start chopping up all the different criteria it becomes very confusing & blurry as to what people are actually talking about. I think you can easily stack 2pac's discog against those guys. but nah he's rated highly of course for a reason and to call him overrated doesn't make much sense since you can make a case for him being #1. I mean you yourself conceded that he's ranked top 10, that's pretty high for someone that is supposed to be overrated. Again if you look at his discog then he can be ranked extremely high, I only have a problem with people saying he's #1 with no argument behind it, there seems to be a lot of people like that.

I LOL at the idea of Andre being higher than Pac. he can't even be compared to 2pac because he didnt have the heart to make a solo album. So he has no discography to speak of outside of Outkast.

I don't think there's an argument for him to be #1. Top 5 maybe but the consistency factor plays in and 2pac died very young so we don't know the quality of music he would have been making in the 2000's. Also, influence is a slippery slope. I rather evaluate/compare artists based on the quality of music they put out than their influence. Wayne is infinitely more influential than Slug but Slug has a much better/more consistent discography and is just an overall better artist. Also, like I said, I have no issue with people rating Pac highly. My issue is with this prominent idea that he's undeniably the GOAT. Even if someone told me they thought 2pac was the goat and they were at least reasonable about it and not like "oh, no one comes close. He's a true poet" than I wouldn't be claiming he's overrated. A lot of people do blindly praise him, I mean just go look at YouTube comments lol.

2pac was consistent for all 5 albums so i dont buy the consistent argument nor the hypothetical comment. I don't care if would have fallen off in the 2000s or not, that's just hypothetical bs that is irrelevant, nobody knows how his quality would have been if he lived lol. Wayne could be ranked over Slug there's a lot of people who don't even know who Slug is but can name a bunch of classic wayne mixtapes, most people dont even rank slug like that outside of the internet. So you're just talking about ignorant people that jump on the bandwagon but people that know what they are talking about know pac wasn't overrated he certainly wasn't overrated when he was alive & dominating everyone in a very short period of time..

The more time goes by the more i'm inclined to say Tech N9ne. Dude literally says f---ing nothing most of the time. His flow is crazy but it doesn't mean s---. There's no ingenuousness to what he's saying.

Saying "Babys mothers recovers your brothers and others smoother than butters but thick as blubbers but slick as rubbers with UTTERS" in 2 seconds doesn't make u good fam
