Because both of them died with a flawless discography. They were the 2 best things in hip hop and died before their catalog's could decline in quality.

However, I personally feel that if they survived then Pac would still be f---ing massive, I feel like he would've been open more to move with the times and new sounds.

That used to be the case in the late 90s and early 2000s. I don't think it's necessarily the case nowadays since there's a lot of younger Rap fans now who don't have any connection to those two. Biggie and Pac were great but they were just 2 rappers out of many who were amazing in the 90's. If I really want to assess where a person's head is at, I'll ask them to name their Top 5 of All Time and that will more or less let me know if it's worth talking to them about Hip Hop. If you're giving props to Biggie and Pac without mentioning Kane, G. Rap, Rakim, Nas, Ghostface, Black Thought, Pharoahe, etc. that tells me enough.

They were more or less the faces of hip-hop during the 90s. Their legacies were magnified even more so after their untimely deaths.

apart from the quality of their music, I think the charisma they both had was probably the main reason they are such a house hold name today. Their premature deaths might have helped with their popularity but that impossible to know for sure

Because they died and they're both in contention for top 10 bare minimum ignoring that fact.

I do not really like Pac's music, but Biggie deserves to be considered top1, I know that he didnt drop many albums, but I cant imagine him falling off, plus if you put him on modern beats, he still the goat

If he was still alive I honestly would be locked in his sxn, who needs other rappers

Well I would imagine biggie fallen off tbh (you could already kinda see it with some filler in lad). However I think pac would have innovated himself and started experimenting with different sounds. He was planning to release a R&B album too, but he died before he could finish it. I could see pac doing the same as kanye with experimenting, but in a different way if you know what I mean.

If we really wanna get technical here, I'd say lupe is the best to ever do it. This man can make a freestyle off the dome sound better than most written verses.

The reason why pac and big are always held in such high regard is because they had the benefit of dying early and in the spotlight right in the middle hip hop's billion dollar boom into the industry. It would be the equivalent of drake and kendrick dying today.

Which songs would you consider filler on Life After Death, exactly? Maybe f--- You Tonight and... ?

Literally can't think of a single song I would cut, it's a remarkably consistent project, especially considering it's a double album

How so? The very little filler on LAD wasn't bad because of Biggie's writing. They were just meh tracks. The album was full of a ton of great stuff--way more than an album full. Biggie's last verses, both on Victory, are known as some of his best ever.

because dying in your prime immortalizes you, they never got the chance to make mediocre albums later in their careers and fall off

Biggie overrated af to me his beat selection was rubbish and he was good at disguising trash bars by making them sound good because he had a good flow.
