Jan 30, 2021 This is a perfect example of a thread that would have been a lot more interesting if it didn't focus on just Eminem. Like, discussing people idolizing an artist / athlete etc is an interesting topic, now it opens the door to just stans stanning and people that dont like eminem shi--ing on him.
Feb 2, 2021 Because eminem himself is or at least was mentally unwell. This instability portrayed in his music attracts other mentally unstable people who see themselves represented on the worlds stage and because of this they become obsessed with him
Feb 2, 2021 Part if it is simply that people who are that famous are more visible for to crazy people to latch onto. He's one of the most famous people on the face of the planet so his weirdos are gonna be more numerous and more public. At a certain level of fame you're bound to get weird stans: Drake, Kanye, Kendrick, etc. all get this stuff too. Even smaller/local artists too. When art resonates with a person it can make them feel close to the artist or like the artist understands them even if they don't know they exist.
Feb 2, 2021 That can’t be recent. I haven’t seen a body wear a shady records piece of merch in like 15 years
Feb 2, 2021 dude the shady merch website has a bunch of stuff from the past couple years sold out, but I've never seen this s--- in public a single time. I always wondered where all this s--- goes lol. Cuz I see people wearing Kanye/Drake/etc merch all the time. I think it was @Jeans who described them as looking like bootleg merch you'd win at the county fair lol. I need to find the screenshots I took cuz some of the worst ones are gone lol.
Feb 2, 2021 I stand by that statement. I’ve only ever seen people wear shady merch in front of the methadone clinic
Feb 2, 2021 I think Em has some of the worst merch. I want to buy a shirt since I haven't had an Em shirt in a while, but I just don't like the stuff they've been releasing. I guess a lot of people buy it to wear it to the shows or just to wear it at home.
Feb 2, 2021 Yeah? Who is more talented. (@ everything. Not just one aspect; all-round - songwriting, rhyming, delivery, concepts and putting all that together / taking Eminem's best work aka the first three albums... what other rapper has made a storytelling track as powerful as "Stan" for example).
Feb 2, 2021 None of that or any other analysis matters if the music isn't good. Eminem got HUGE because of how catchy his music was. Simple as that. Forget content, forget how he looks, forget everything... if the music isn't catchy, the artist will not be big. Catchiness is the most underrated and non-spoken about aspect to the success of music. All of the biggest artists - The Beatles, Em, Nelly, 50, whoever you want to name from whenever... makes catchy/memorable music. End of.
