May 13, 2015 I mean with that titled we might expect the opposite of the slim shady LP, like a 100% personal album. But this is a 90% slim shady project (k--- you, Who knew, Drug ballad, b---- please 2, I'm back, The real slim shady which was the first single, Criminal, Under the influence, Remember me, Amityville), only 3 or 4 songs fits the title. This could have been named Slim Shady LP 2, and Eminem Show named Marshall Mathers LP, don't you think?

May 13, 2015 It's not about the content, it's more about his voice. I know that sounds f---ing stupid, but I stand by it. MMLP could have never been named SSLP2 because that nasally cartoon character wasn't there anymore.. Besides, Eminem hadn't fallen off in 2000 to the point where he needed sequels.

May 13, 2015 Because it made sense. That's really the only reason. Perhaps slightly influenced by "Marshall Mathers" being a song on the album. The Slim Shady EP The Slim Shady LP The Marshall Mathers LP The Eminem LP (was almost titled this until Paul suggested Eminem's life was like a TV show, hence the name "The Eminem Show") Eminem doesn't put critical thought into anything, so don't read into it.
May 13, 2015 didn't know that. on one side it would be cool, because it would fit the pattern of "The ... LP", but it definitely sounds worse, so TES is easily the better name.
May 13, 2015 from Angry Blonde: While putting together my second album, I kind of wanted to come up with an “I Don’t Give a f---,” Part 3. Jeff from FBT was playing this acoustic guitar track. He then started singing the hook “Cause I’m just Marshall Mathers”. It’s ill, because every time we’re f---ing around in the studio we seem to come up with the dopest s---. We’ll f--- around and be smiling while we’re saying s--- and I’ll say “Yo that’s dope. I should use that.” When I thought of the chorus I felt that what I needed to talk about in the verses was just me and my opinions. So I touched on everything from the newest trends in hip hop (which I’m not really with), to ICP, to my mother, to my family members who don’t know me and always wanna come around. I wanted to just spit fire in each verse and have the soft-a--- innocent chorus. I think it captures the whole “front porch” feel on the album’s cover. When I recorded this I decided to call the album The Marshall Mathers LP.
