Why isnt UK Rap big in America?

    but that just seems ignorant, because the american accent dosent put other people off american music, so why should it put americans off other music?

    you guys really not gonna listen to music cause it dosent sound like yous?

    Used to be big on Ruff Sqwad and Terra Firma. Early Dizzee/BBK/Wiley/Roll Deeep/Kano obviously. Skepta's still pretty great.

    It's also worth noting that the stuff worth listening to (Boy In da Corner, the last Skepta record) generally does get attention in the US

    they can barely understand the accent as is, i doubt they are gonna look past that, just to try understand and learn AUS/UK slang as awell.

    People in Aus/UK though don't have the same issue because TV's/movies was/are dominated by american culture/language/accents. so hearing an american accent isn't a completely foreign thing. Where as American tv/media/movies are majority american made, by american people. There are Aus/Uk media in US but compared to how much american culture is in our lives, they see/experience minimal of ours.

    So when grime comes on they just hear
    "f--k U AVIN A GOW AT ME FOR MET?! HOL CREW DOWN TO GET A PLET"
    it's the same as a chinese man yelling at them aggressively in chinese. it doesn't make any sense.

    i know i know

    but rap has sort of migrated and found its way into a generation, so part of the UK now has that same culture

    you can see how neglecting that culture based off the accent and not talent is kinda ignorant
