Jul 24, 2016 I'm dying Putin, Trump and Assad. The holy trinity of the most peaceful politicians in the world. Trump depreciates the 5th article and says US would only help if the attacked country fulfilled all their requirements towards NATO >> Basically, It's a green light for Putin to do something with the Baltic countries. Putin attacked Ukraine 3 years ago and is doing everything to destabilize NATO and the EU (Hybrid warfare) And we have also Assad who is poisoning his countrymen with chemical weapon and is supporting ISIS. But Hillary and the billionaires behind her want to start another cold war. Seems f---ing legit....
Jul 24, 2016 Are we going to talk about the candidates' foreign policy without mentioning how Trump's NATO stance could trigger a world war? Or about how he's openly advocated war crimes? Trump makes Cheney look like Humphrey.
Jul 24, 2016 I think @WPG broke @Chad Warden 's will to think logically. I hope we all remember he's a teacher btw
Jul 24, 2016 I never said Assad and Putin were peaceful. I sure as s--- know it's better to have Assad in control than """"""moderate""""""" rebels. If Trump takes a non interventionist approach to the political side of the war in Syria, focusing on only eliminating ISIS, Syria will recover much quicker.
Jul 24, 2016 I would love for you to explain the mechanics of this to me, in a way that sidesteps directly engaging any countries in the region.
Jul 24, 2016 I don't care about your particular opinion, you're claiming that it's a "very, very respected outlet" without presenting proper evidence to back it up. Again, my point is that Vox is literally Pro-Clinton, and their half-assed article quoting a tweet from a literal nobody is the only source of data that you're providing for this theory. I'm not telling you to vote for Trump, I'm demonizing the actions behind this.
Jul 24, 2016 Of course you're going to have to interact with the region. That's why getting on at least neutral terms with Russia and coordinating attacks on ISIS territories together is so vital. That's my opinion, anyway. Really, there's much deeper problems - like the U.S backed rebels double crossing Syria.
Jul 24, 2016 Uh my "very, very respected" point is based on...........................being a writer. Other writers, journalists, editors, publishers--we all talk about the industry endlessly. Vox got kind of a lukewarm reception when it opened, and I never really started reading it until the vast majority of my professional network think very highly of it. This is a massive stretch. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/07/donald-trump-working-for-russia.html?mid=twitter_nymag ...and I'm telling you it's incredibly naive to read these emails and blush. It's a huge political hit. I'm not denying that. I'm just trying to inject some perspective into how we talk about the actual contents.
Jul 24, 2016 This will never be a reality because the Russians would use this as a pretense to end up back in the Balkans
Jul 24, 2016 I think it could work. I wouldn't put much faith in Russia, but using them as a way to communicate with Assad, which is really what is needed, even if Assad is a bad guy, the alternative (becoming another Libya) is much worse. I feel like the end game of the current administration in the U.S is to install another puppet government into Syria, or even worse, giving it to the rebels/ISIS, leaving it in ruins, ran by warlords.
Jul 24, 2016 d---, you know some poor intern somewhere is about to pull a 16 hour day reading through all of these
Jul 24, 2016 A better way to put it would be, unless Trump becomes president or Hillary and her donors have a massive change of heart, I see that being the end result of U.S intervention in Syria.
Jul 24, 2016 How would you account for ISIS's huge territory losses this year? I don't know if it's realistic they could take the reigns of a country.
Jul 24, 2016 No, it isn't. http://www.vox.com/a/hillary-clinton-interview/the-gap-listener-leadership-quality No clear conclusions here. Fair, but knowing Hillary's record, this leak felt like the straw that broke the camel. I'm just trying to remind you that you're voting for the lesser of two evils.
Jul 24, 2016 It's not just ISIS that's the problem in the region. I will admit they have been weakened in the past year and a half significantly. We both know how persistent these groups are though. The war is not coming to an end any time soon. I doubt we even see a ceasefire within the next three years.
Jul 24, 2016 I, like virtually every American with an internet connection, read this when it came out. I don't see how it casts the site as on the take for Clinton. This is a major party nominee for president--the frontrunner--who's horrifically bad, or at least appears horrifically bad, at retail politics. This piece pegs the whole profile on that. The Rebecca Traister profile has the same premise. Is New York on the take, too? It's a fascinating schism for someone who's advanced this far. Speaking of New York, the Chait article links to both of those Politico pieces, the first of which is very pertinent imo. Politically? It will be a huge blow, yes. Are you saying this hands Trump the election though? Seems like a massive leap. This is a cliche, and it's a lame one. I'll give you the same question Prhyme chickened out on: Tell me, specifically, how Clinton is "evil." She's not my first pick from the party, but I think she'll be a very competent president. She'll continue and expand lots of Obama programs, which is exactly what I (realistically) want from the next president.
