Nah it's unpopular. I think a lot of people like HMADC more. But I'm asking why. Cause, like, I can pretty easily explain why I think Alright and Momma are better than HMADC nahmean

I dont agree, the song is straight beautiful storytelling with a message that you can interpret in a lot of ways, everything works and the hability of Kendrick of displaying the context through the track is magnificent.

What ways can you interpret besides the fact that a dollar is worth something different to every person, you need to be humble to earn a spot in heaven, be kind in general, etc?

The storytelling is pretty great man, Im not denying that. The track is just boasted to seem so much more important/complex than it really is

I hear ya, it's just personal preference from my pov. I really like the beat, the hook and the outro and feel like Kendrick's flow was smooth on this track. The message is straightforward but I felt like it was a nice contrast to the other tracks where you had to pay deeper attention to. So yeah like you said it caters more to the simpleminded but I don't mind that.

You just named 3 different interpretations of the track. Compliments my point.

But Drake isn't simple while trying to seem complex. Context -- if this song was obvious about it's metaphor from the start, like For Sale/"Lucy" than I would like it more. It's structured to make it seem like a revelation -- like "oh s---, we should always be humble and kind to everyone!! or it could be God youre talking to!!"

The message of the song/the idea of a modern day Kendrick recognizing the cracks in his own armor is definitely important for the album, but the song could have been different/better.

What we have now is a good song for sure, but its complexity/depth is being inflated.

I kind of dont agree with is. When I first heard HMADC I wasnt really paying attention and I thought it was just great rapping and a "normal Kendrick -- but then when I actually read the lyrics/paid attention, I realized that the premise was really trying to pull one over on the listener -- as if it was something super deep or complex, which is just kinda false.

The message is straightforward, and that would've been nice, I agree, but look at TBTB for an example on how to do that correctly. This one actually DID want you to pay "deeper attention" but it just wasn't complicated enough to ask for that

You can interpret "God" in a lot of different ways on the track, check the page of Rap Genius, a lot of users had a different interpretation of the meaning behind the song. The best part is that the message doesn't feels religious, and i think Kendrick deserves props for that.

How people react to a song doesn't always mean it had those merits to begin with. Should it get points for starting the conversations, sure.

but, like, just cause you have someone like me who'll watch Breaking Bad and try to break down why someone's name from the cast came up on the screen at the same time as a character who kills him/her that same episode -- doesn't mean it was purposeful, or adds any real value to the episode lol

U first half is a skip every time, really tough to listen to. Other 4 songs are in my top 5 with HMADC. HMADC is crazy meaningful and is sonically the most "normal" kendrick song on the album.

I feel you're being too harsh and overly critical. Just let it be a simple message then. I understand what you're saying but i don't see it as him trying to blow us away with the last few lines. I just take the song and message for what it is man.... and honestly i'm one for songs with depth and enjoy dissecting them and trying to interpret them in my own way but i really like HMADC

I agree. How Much a dollar definitely has a top 3 best on the album. The heavy drums and sax and melodies in general>>>>>>

    The hook>>>
    Kenny's verses>>>

I don't see how it's getting voted out this early but to each his own.
