    You should rewatch season 2 if you haven't in a minute—I've grown to like it about as much as season 1 honestly. Soooooo much of season 2 sets up the rest of the show. It's jarring coming out of season 1, but I think that was necessary to show that the systems we're dealing with are so much bigger than simply cops and d--- dealers.

    A lot of people trash season 5, and I don't think it's an outright bad season, but the whole serial killer thing does cause it to stray away from the realism of the first four. It's not an absolute deal breaker for me, but it's one of the few times you have to suspend your disbelief a little bit in The Wire. Still, there's good stuff there—Marlo vs. Omar alone is fantastic as is the last episode. And Slim Charles murking Cheese point blank gets me every time lol. Cheese is so despicable it's hard to feel sorry for him in any capacity.

    It's poetic that Omar died as he did. Most of the characters of the Wire are products of a cycle of violence, and ultimately doomed to die from it. Omar was such a superhero that force wasn't going to stop him, so it's a picture of innocence that does it instead. It's a stark reminder, that everyone dies in this system, and that the people damaged by it are affected really young.

    Most people think season 2 is the worst the first time, it's definitely jarring but when you watch it again knowing what happens you start to see how important it is. I love Season 2 more every time I watch it and like season 5 less every time I watch that lol. Don't get me wrong there's enough good stuff in season 5 and I still enjoy it every time, but you'll notice more and more holes in it each time. Luckily the finale is fantastic and the general plotlines are mostly solid to great, it's just that serial killer storyline that makes you feel like you're watching CSI Miami lol

    I think the main difference is that in Lost you kinda knew how the final season would end or where it was trying to go. GOT was so good for so long you didn't think they'd wait until the last second and butcher every second you put in the show, but they did

    Pretty much this. I love Marlo and genuinely do love season 5 because I love the whole series—despite its flaws there's enough to like in it and it ties everything up really nicely.

    brah i dont get this s---, it's stressful tbh. like how the f--- you want more g----related seasons when we already saw the rise and fall of avon's dynasty and the rise of marlo's godlike deity roster?????

    like c---- goes from some "made it"/"GRODT" gangsta too high-rise meetings with millionairse then dips back to what he knows to get stabbed and laugh... stresss me out how c---- are not succesful in life and don't relate to this show/season brah.

    Only people who don't like Marlo have this sentiment. People who love Marlo rank S5 2 at the lowest. S5 is my favorite and by far the most reawatchable.

    The first half of TD season 2 was a chore but the back half was solid imo. Really enjoyed season 3 too (and obviously season 1 is amazing).

    That’s how I feel about GOT. I hesitate to even tell people to watch it now because of how pathetic that final season was. I’ve never been more frustrated in my life than watching those r-----s fumble the show so hard. I wanted to off myself after watching Kawhi hit his lucky a--- buzzer beater against the Sixers then changing over to HBO and watching Danarys burn the city down having just saved the world an episode ago. The pacing was so f-----. I’m getting heated even typing this up lmao.

    My list would probably go:

    Breaking Bad
    The Wire
    Sopranos

    GOT
    Better Call Saul

    then like C tier s--- that’s entertaining enough to see through like

    Sons of Anarchy
    Eastbound and Down

    Lost was a giant piece of s--- and an even bigger waste of time. First 3 seasons were pretty incredible but it fell off so badly it was comical. I think the final few seasons I was flat out skipping episodes or at best not paying attention. Just awful.

    The Wire
    GOT
    The Sopranos


    Then you've got

    Breaking Bad
    Better Call Saul
    All 3 seasons of True Detective

    Even Power is light years better than Lost.


    Please watch anyone of those before f---ing Lost.

    And before anybody says anything negative about True Detective season 2 I'll just leave this here.

    I’m on ep 4 right now, loving it. Ep 1 I agree was slow but really picked up with 2. I’ve never read any Phillip Roth but I might peep after this.

    Been meaning to check it out as well.

    I'm kinda afraid to rewatch it cuz I'm afraid it'll ruin the magic of watching week to week discussing theories with everyone in high school/my freshman year of college. Cuz I know seasons 5/6 are prob not nearly as good as I remember them now lol.

    I didn't mind the ending either. :dno: I'm not speaking about the ending specifically when I say this, but I think people got too caught up on random s--- not being explained that just came down to them not being able to suspend their disbelief. I remember some of these mfs still going on about polar bears six seasons in and I'm like dude, it's a show about a magic island, if you're still stuck on the polar bears being on a tropical island from like episode 2, I don't think this show is for you lol. And some of this s--- just straight up didn't matter—it was supposed to be mysterious.
