Dec 4, 2018 That’s what I mean there’s too many variables and ifs. Yeah it’d be peaceful without the U.S, if other countries will suddenly play fair, if no one fills the vacuum, if civilisation didn’t rely on oil, capitalism in general, if human greed wasn’t a thing f--- it if the earth didn’t exist in the first place It’s way too naive to think things would be that simple
Dec 4, 2018 haha let's pretend the US didn't have anything to do with all the drugs and problems South America have
Dec 4, 2018 Do you have the right to do that though under the amendment protecting forum users using their freedom of speech? And the company that sxn80 used to build their platform on is based in the USA I believe. Just be careful posting unconstitutional threats, because that will scare some guests from joining. I would focus more on bringing new users in my man. You get worked up too easy sometimes.
Dec 4, 2018 There was this old dude on my college campus handing out a pro-communist newspaper to students lol. He was also chanting “fight for communism” (no joke lol). I had to take one lol. I’ll DM you his contact info for branding tips.
Dec 5, 2018 The internet is an absolutely amazing invention, but a lot of the s--- that's come with it (like social media) has made the world worse. Just look at the first generation that's grown up not knowing a world without smart phones. They're depressed as f--- with negative attention spans and they're not even old enough to drive. I'm not gonna pretend I wanna go back to the stone age or some s--- but for every amazing thing that has come from advanced civilization, an equally terrible thing has also arisen. Issa give and take just like the internet.
Dec 5, 2018 I think anarcho-primitivism is only attractive if you're a fatalist, which uh, we all slip into now and again. It really just places the onus of all bad things on nature instead of man, which seems more fair in one regard, or less unjust, but doesn't reduce suffering. I think it's possible to retain plumbing and medicine and public transit and rich culture and other components of an industrialized civilization in a new sustainable, humane society. Not post-work gay space communism or whatever that meme is. But degrowth for places like the US and a steady state economy to replace it is a hard sell. In a global context, our standard of living is actually high but in a really terrible way unconcerned with ecological impact or the impact on South America/Indochina/Africa or anywhere we siphon resources from to exist. World-systems theory is a really cool framework for thinking about stuff this way: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World-systems_theory Great article from Aviva Chomsky, Noam's daughter, on the US' parasitic role with Mexico: https://www.guernicamag.com/aviva_chomsky_testimonies_from/
