I think people over-exaggerate how bad the lyrics are on Yeezus, but the writing is definitely not as tight on something like TCD that he'd been crafting for years or MBDTF where he'd been holed up at Rap Camp in Hawaii for a year vs. Yeezus that has songs he finished in like two hours according to rick rubin. But Yeezus can get away with having pockets of spotty lyrics because it's more about how the songs feel in their entirety and the emotional arc/rollercoaster.

"Whatever the reason, Pac was working off the cuff, and he demanded the same from his collaborators. He challenged guest rappers to have their verses ready after giving them mere minutes to write—if they didn’t finish crafting something, or if they couldn’t nail it on the first take, they’d be cut from the song. The only artist who escaped this fate was Snoop Dogg, who slipped out of the studio to perfect his verses from “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.”
Holy s---, didn't know this about the album. Still reading but lots of great tidbits I didn't know so far. Good s---.

Pac dropped three straight albums that are all regularly placed in people's top 25 all time lists (sometimes two or all three)

And Kodak is comparing it to Drake :weebey:

because most 2pac songs you see mentioned can be found on his greatest hits cd. Just because it's not on a top 10 list it doesn't mean it's filler. he does have hundreds of songs

but tbh the whole Pac discussion reminds me of Dunning-Kruger Effect

instead of "confidence" this should say "amount of love for 2pac" and instead of "competence" it should say "amount of rappers I've heard"

a lot of people exaggerate kanye's shortcomings as a rapper. he's a very good rapper, even great in a lot of ways. nowhere near tupac––who, to be clear, is one of the three or five greatest to ever live. it's not a slight to kanye. stop being so sensitive.
i'm telling you that, to me, it's the only thing that even comes close to qualifying (and "close" is a stretch).
i'm not interested in your strawman bs. lots of great rappers sing. pac used to rap in key with the beat. drake is a middling artist who makes some pretty good music and a lot more music that's utterly derivative and disposable.
now you're just throwing around adjectives. how didn't pac (or jay, or blu, or kane, or dmc, or...) have "amazing flow" and "interesting content"? you sound like you're writing ad copy. eminem was really good at his peak. one of the most impressive things about him was the way he filled up space on a record. how's that a negative thing to say?
this is neither here nor there. (it also speaks to something aside from "the immeasurable greatness" of two pretty good albums, but we don't wanna be here all day.)
